Introduction
This presentation explores potential alternative currencies to
traditional physical currency in the digital age, including
cryptocurrency and resource based economies.

We'll also talk about prospective substitutes like:

● Blockchain technology
● Internet of things (IoT)
● Other new kinds of digital money.
Do you use cash?

How often does the cashier just hand over the

debit machine when you pay for your morning
coffee?

Some even seem surprised if you give them

cash.
Digital Currency
● Technology is advancing and digital forms of
payment are becoming more prevalent.
● Many people already rely on digital
payment methods such as credit cards,
online transfers, and mobile payment apps.
● These payment methods offer several
advantages over traditional forms of
payment such as cash and checks, including
convenience, speed, and enhanced security
features.
Cryptocurrency

● Bitcoin is a well-known cryptocurrency that

has gained popularity in recent years.
● Offers advantages such as being
decentralized and potentially more secure
than traditional forms of payment.
● Challenges and limitations include high
volatility and limited acceptance by
merchants.
Blockchain Technology
● A digital ledger that is used to record
transactions across many computers and is
often associated with cryptocurrency.

● Can be used in various applications beyond

cryptocurrency, such as supply chain
management and voting systems.
Resource-Based Economy
● An alternative currency system where
goods and services are exchanged based on
the availability of resources and the needs
of individuals, rather than on monetary
value.
● Not yet widely adopted, but some people
believe it could offer a more sustainable and
equitable way of exchanging goods and
services.
● On my opinion, I don’t see that option
viable, it would be like take a step back on
the current technology progression.
Technological Advancements
● Technology is constantly evolving and may lead
to new currency systems in the future.
● Decentralized systems, artificial intelligence, and
the Internet of Things (IoT) are all potential areas
for innovation.
Social and Cultural Factors
● Changing society values may shape the way
we think about and use money.
● Increasing focus on sustainability, ethics,
and social responsibility may influence
currency systems.
Advantages Disadvantages
Avoid tax evasion Security concerns

Security Financial exclusión

Flexibility Privacy concerns

Liquidity Dependence on Technology

Conclusion
● It's difficult to predict exactly what
alternative currency, if any, will emerge as a
viable replacement for traditional currency
in the future.
● Digital currency, cryptocurrency, and
resource-based economies are some of the
most potential options.
● Technological advancements and changing
values of the society will likely continue to
shape the way we think about and use
money.
