SIGNATURE
CARINOSA
• It means affectionate,
lovable, or amiable
With the fan and handkerchief, the dancers
go through hide and seek movements and
other flirting acts epressing tender feeling
for one another
COSTUME
The girls wear Balintawak or Patadyong
and Camisa costumes. While, the boys
wear Barong Tagalog and any colored
trousers. The girls have fun hanging at
R side of their waist, while the boys
have handkerchief in their pocket

The music is composed
of two parts: A and B

other about six feet apart. When facing
the audience, the girls are at the right
of the boys. One to any number of

PANDANGGO
RINCONADA
-This dance originated from
Nabua, Camarines Sur
- “PANDANGGO RINCONADA”
COSTUME
The girl wears paladyong,
camisa and soft panuel while
the boy wears barong tagalog
and white trousers

Divided into seven

HIMIG SA
NAYON
It means country folk tune. The music
and the dance express the character,
mood and sentiment of the simple
country people. The following should be
considered in dancing Himig sa nayon :

PANTOMINA DE
SORSOGON
One of the favorite folk dances of the
Bicolanos is the Pantomina. It is
popular even among the folk who love
to dance Pantomina during social
gatherings. Some groups have their
own way of dancing it. This dance
Pantomina comes from the province
of Sorsogon
COSTUME
The girl must wear Maria Clara,
serpentina, or Balintawak style
while the boy wear Barong
Tagalog with Pants.

SAYAW SA
CUYO
Origin
- On small island Cuyo, Palawan’s old
capital
- September 28
- It is blended with strong old CUYO
ethnicity and Spanish-Influenced
- Sayaw sa cuyo means a dance of the
Cuyo Islanders for entertainment
COSTUM
E
- Girls wear the gored type (de espada), Maria Clara
costume
and camisa (short blouse, moderate loose sleeves and
cuffs) on top.
- Scarf (mantilla): Soft bandanna with floral design and
tassels,
- Skirt (Saya): Gored skirt in flimsy or soft material in two
tones.
- Accessories Cameo on a velvet choker, flowers on hair,
Panama hat
- Suggested Footwear: Cocho or zapatilla.

BASIC DANCING
STEP
• Mazurka
Dance Pattern: Slide R (L) foot in second position (ct.
1), cut R (L.) sideward with the L (R) foot (ct. 2), hop
on the L (R) foot and beat in rear or in front the R (L)
foot close to the ankle of the L (R) foot (ct 3).
• Redoba
Dance Pattern: Slide RL) foot in second
position (ct. 1), cut R (L) foot sideward with
the L (R) (ct. 2), cut L (R) with the R (L) foot
and raise the L (R) foot in rear of the R(L)
knee (ct. 3).
• Waltz
Dance Pattern: Step R (L) foot across the L
(R) in front and raise slightly the L(R) foot
across in rear ct. 1), step the L (R) close to
R (L) in third or fifth position in rear (ct. 2),
step RL) foot in fourth in front (et. 3). Step
on the ball of the rear foot on the second
count.
• Cross-steps
Dance Pattern: Step R (L) foot in
second position (ct. 1), step or slide L
(R) foot sideward right(left) across the
R (L) in front (cts. 2, 3). Put the weight
on the L (R) foot at the end of the slide
on the third count

a. Partners hold as in open ballroom position starting with the L for the boys and with R for the
girls, brush or slide forward (cts 1,2), raise the same foot in rear of the other foot (ct.3)
b. Starting with the same foot take three steps forward (cts 1,2,3)
c. Face the opposite direction and repeat (a) and (b), starting with the opposite foot (girls with
the L and boys with the R foot). Finish in place
d. Partners execute a quarter – turn right girls turning backward, boys forward).

with the same foot (R for girls and L for boys)

Head and side pairs dance at the same time. partners face each other about one or two
feet apart. Girls hold their skirts, boys keep hands on waists throughout this figure.

c. Repeat (a) and (b), starting with the L foot , going to sideward left
Partners face the center or the square, the girls holding skirts while the boys hands
placed on waists throughout this figure.
a. Starting with the R , take three " Paso Espanol" steps forward. at the end of the third
step the opposites are at the center of the square
b. Starting with the R foot, take seven steps backward to proper places, partners them
face each other and bow. The feet are together when bowing. The hands remain in the
same place .

Head Pairs:
Partners join inside hands. Free hands of the girlsholding skirts, boys' on waists.
a. Starting with the R foot, take four heel and toe polka steps forward. At the end of the
fourth step the opposite are standing about a foot from each other
b. Partners release hands. The opposites ( girls of one side and boys of the other side)
join both hands. Starting with the R foot, take four polka steps clockwise
c. Release hands of the opposites. Partners face toward their proper places and join
inside hands. Free hands are placed as in (a). Starting with the R foot, take four polka
steps forward going to proper places. Finish facing the center

c. Release hands. Starting with the R foot, take four change steps forward to proper places.

Girls of side II and boys of side I dance
a. The girls start with the R while the boys with the L foot . Take one native schottische
("chotis") making a half-turn with the extended arm outside (away from the center)
