Introduction 

 The Consumer Durables industry consists of durable goods and appliances for domestic
use such as televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines. Instruments
such as cell phones and kitchen appliances like microwave ovens are also included in this
category. 
Scope :

 This study focuses only on four household durable products, namely, Television, Washing
machine, Refrigerator and Air-conditioner in Coimbatore  district are taken. It also covers
the analysis of sources of information for purchase behavior of  consumers and their
awareness of sales promotion schemes  of consumer durable household products in the
study area. This study will also be helpful for the future researchers and sales
representatives.
Objectives :

 1. To know the important Consumer behavioural models which are related to buying
decisions of the consumers 
 2. To examine the relative importance of the information sources used by the consumers
in the purchase of house hold durable products
 3. To study the suggestions regarding durable goods.
Research methodology  :

 Research design : Descriptive research 


 Population           : Infinite 
 Sampling techniques         : conveniences sampling  
 Method of data collection: primary and secondary data collection 
 Tools used for data collection: questionnaire
