Masthead Amplifier
•Principle of operation: The signal from a distant mobile
is close to the noise floor when it reaches the base station antenna;
if then passed through a lossy feeder cable to the base station without
a preceding amplifier, the signal-to-noise ratio is critically degraded.
A masthead amplifier boosts the signal to much higher than the noise
floor, allowing more attenuation before the signal is again threatened
by the noise floor.

•When to use? Often! The uplink usually limits the

system performance. Network traffic metrics (dropped calls)
and path balance analysis should be used.

Tower Top Power Amplifier (Booster)

• Boosters are bi-directional amplifiers that

boost up base station power and extend
its coverage.
• Incorporates a pre-amplifier (LNA) on uplink,
which helps improve BTS sensitivity.
• Our Boosters provide the best solution for
improving both indoor and outdoor coverage.
• ADC can provide a 4-Channel Booster for
GSM or DCS.

Benefits of Using a Booster

• Increases Coverage (both up/downlink)

reduce number of cell sites
• For initial roll-out, provides good cost saving, with a reduction in the
implementation and construction costs.
• For long term operation, less
problems with transmission,
maintenance team have less sites
to visit, less work when an upgrade
is needed.
• The LNA improves the sensitivity
of the BTS, reduces dropped calls
and increases battery life
• Easy installation and quick
commissioning with the BTS.

Booster Operation and Maintainance

• The parameters of a booster can be set locally and remotely through

wireless modem within the booster via the Operation and Maintenance Center
(OMC) or the Operation and Maintenance Terminal (OMT) software.
• Alarm information can be transmitted to the OMC through the modem
connected to the booster or to the preset mobile phone via SMS, so as to
lighten the burden of operation and maintenance personnel.
• Two Connection Modes : SMS and Data Call

What is Repeater ?

• A Repeater works as a bi-directional amplifier to increase the signal

between mobiles and base stations, in uplink and downlink direction.

• Our repeaters work in GSM900, 1800 and CDMA frequency range and
could be used for an area with poor coverage in outdoor and indoor
environment.

• Complete local monitor function and powerful remote repeater

Benefits of Using a Repeater

• Fast rollout and fast coverage leads to fast return on investment

• Low build out costs
• For GSM network,no planning of BSS parameter (well known as the
number one error source in every GSM network)
• No microwave link and No 2 Mbit- connection needed
• Less antennas and cable usage, and much lighter steel hardware
• A strong tower is not required.
• Easy to locate site for installation & coverage
• Expands coverage areas in: rural, tunnels, in-building, canyons and
highways
• Platform for subscriber growth
• Acts just like base station

Antenna Isolation
• A repeater can act as an oscillator if the signal feedback is greater than the
gain.
– Isolation between donor & service antenna should be at least 10 - 15 dB more
than system gain.
– Fair distance from donor antenna for proper isolation; minimum of 2 m vertical
spacing.
• To measure, inject a known power into one antenna
(or use tracking
generator function), Spectrum Service
& measure the Analyzer

Road and Remote Coverage Applications
• Most Repeaters Systems are interfaced with the common Outdoor and Indoor
applications. We integrate Channel Selective Repeaters and Band Selective
Repeaters to give coverage in rural and urban areas.

Road and Remote Coverage Applications
• Road coverage and coverage for small cities and villages can also be provided by a
Twin Repeater.

Fibre Optic Repeater – Indoor Applications
• Fiber optic coupled Repeaters are often used for In- Buildings and also for some
outdoor systems.
• Airports and underground exhibition halls are some of the common areas where
fiber optic repeaters are used.

Solar Repeater Applications

• Solar-powered Repeaters are needed for

sites where connections to the power
network are impossible or too expensive.
Our experiences in the design of solar
powered hardware optimization, tuning of
stand-by battery time and needed power
consumption of the Repeater, allows us to
install the system with only few solar
panels.

Frequency Shifting Repeater (FSR-MN)

•The FSR-MN is a point-to-multipoint, frequency-shifting repeater system that

overcomes the antenna isolation problem in conventional repeater system.
•Each FSR-MN can support up to 2 channel frequencies, and may be
connected in parallel for higher number of channels, or cascaded to booster
products for higher output power.
•Comprises of Master Unit (Direct or Wireless Coupling) and Remote Unit.
•Available in GSM-DCS and GSM-GSM.
•Wireless remote and local monitor function (OMT).
•Optional powerful remote repeater network administration (OMC).

Benefits of Using Frequency Shifting Repeater

•Eliminate donor antenna isolation problems through frequency translation.

•Fast rollout and fast coverage leads to fast return on investment.
•Low build out costs.
