Law of Inertia: The law of inertia,
also known as Newton's first law
of motion, states that an object at
rest tends to stay at rest, and an
object in motion tends to stay in
motion with the same speed and
in the same direction unless acted
upon by an external force.
Force is a vector quantity
that can cause an object to
accelerate or decelerate.
According to Newton's
second law of motion, the
acceleration of an object is
directly proportional to
the net force applied to it
and inversely proportional
to its mass.
Balanced and Unbalanced Forces: When the forces acting
on an object are balanced, the net force is zero, and the
object remains at rest or continues moving at a constant
velocity.
Friction: Friction is a
force that opposes motion
between two surfaces in
contact. It arises due to
the roughness of surfaces
and can act to slow down
or stop the motion of an
object.
Gravity: Gravity is a force of
attraction between objects
with mass. It acts to pull
objects toward each other.
The force of gravity depends
on the masses of the objects
and the distance between
them.
Applied Forces:
Applied forces are
external forces applied
to an object by a
person or another
object.
Elastic Forces: Elastic
forces arise when an
object is deformed or
compressed and then
returns to its original
shape.
These concepts help explain the
causes of motion and the
interactions between objects in
physical science. By
understanding these principles,
scientists and engineers can
analyze and predict the
behavior of objects in various
situations.
