ABSTRACT

• The demand making to make air travel more

pleasant, encure, and productive for passengers is one of the
winning factors for both airlines and the aircraft
manufacturing industry for which Aerounatical
communication is one of the enablers
INTRODUCTION OF ATC

• The Air Traffic Control is a service provided by ground-based

air traffic controllers

• The air traffic Control (ATC) is the busiest in the country

handling over 250 or more movements

• It regulates the large volume of air traffic and also handles test
and military flights with varied aircraft speed.
HISTORY OF ATC

• In 1921, Croydon Airport, London was the first airport in the world to
introduce Air Traffic Control

• First developed by controller J.V. Tighe

• The first ATC tower regulating all activities of aircraft at a specific

airport , opened in Cleveland in 1930
Working Of ATC

• Air Traffic Controllers use radar, computers, or visual references to monitor

and direct the movement of the aircraft in the skies and ground traffic at
airports

• Controllers usually manage multiple aircraft at the same time and must
make quick decisions to ensure the safety of aircraft

 Call Signs
 Radar Coverage
Airport View From ATC
ADVANTAGES OF ATC

 Provide information and other support for pilots

 Air traffic controllers have lots of leisure
 You can work indoors
 You don’t have to work in a physical manner
 High social status of air traffic controllers
 Working as an air traffic controller can be exciting
 You may get discounts on flights
 Many air traffic controllers can retire early
 Good job if you love planes and air travel in general
LIMATATIONS Of ATC

• Other equipment and displays may be blocked/obstructed

• Taking space from the operator for technology creates a Human factors
conundrum

• There may not be enough physical space for all large displays and all
other equipment and displays to be used effectively
FUTURE SCOPE OF ATC
• The position of an Air Traffic controller is an important part of the Aviation
industry . Air Traffic Controller are trained to continue the safety ,orderly flow of
air traffic in the air traffic control system globally. It’s specialized field that
requires the knowledge of technical and handling of equipment

• Recruitment and good career in ATC (AAI ATC EXAM)

• In india ,Air traffic services are provided by airports Authority of India (AAI) , with
a motto “Service with safety”.
INTRODUCTION OF UMTS

 UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) is a third –generation

(3G) broadband,packet-based transmission of text, digitized voice, video, and
multimedia at data rates up to 2 megabits per second (Mbps)

 The specification of UMTS covers the entire network system, including the

radio access network ,the core network and user .

HISTORY OF UMTS

● The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) proposed

UMTS in 1985.

APPLICATION OF UMTS

 Streaming/Download (Video,Audio)
 Videoconferences
 Fast Internet
 Mobile E- Commerce ( M-Commerce)
 Remote Login
 Background –Messaging,E-Mail
 FTP Access (File Transfer Protocol)
 Mobile Entertainment (Games)
ADVANTAGES OF UMTS

● Greater range of enriched multimedia services

● Higher data rates for a greater number of users

● Use the best quality images available in 3G

● Access any website with great coverage

● IP multimedia services for mobile devices

LIMATATIONS OF UMTS

● It is more expensive than GSM

● Universal Mobile Telecommunication System has poor video

experince

● Universal Mobile Telecommunication System still NOT

broadband
FUTURE SCOPE OF UMTS

INTRODUCTION OF AeroMACS

• The Aerounatical Mobile Airport Communication System (AeroMACS) is

the new –generation airport datalink to help airlines, airport authorities and
air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) cope with increased volumes of
data exchange at busy airport surfaces

• A wireless standard that improves safety and regularity of flights on airport

surface

• Based on commercial 4G Technology

Working of AeroMACS
• AeroMACS is a Key technology to the aviation industry to
improve communication on the airport surface by providing
increased transmission of Air traffic Control (ATC) and Airline
ADVANTAGES/LIMATATIONS OF AeroMACS

● Supports a wide range air traffic application

● Reliveves the congested VHF spectrum

● Optimizes air traffic management through

Quality of service (QoS) functionally
ANIMATION OF AeroMACS
CONCLUSION

 The Air Traffic Control (ATC) is the third busiest in the country handling over
250 movements (landing and takeoff) everyday

 The UMTS radio interface system planning has the same basic philosophy as
the GSM but varies in the detail mainly because of the change of radio
propagation channel that is a wideband type
