TOPIC: THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

OF THE INTERNET

INTRODUCTION
Good afternoon my teacher and my friends. My name is Nilamon and this
is Latsamy, Thatsaphone and the last one is Phoutthiphone. Thank you for
coming this afternoon and for the next 30 minutes, we would like to talk about
The Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet. We have divided our
presentation into 3 parts. The first part is The meaning of Internet, the second
part is The Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet and the last is What
would it be if one day our lives don’t have Internet. If you have any questions
while we are speaking. Please, save them until the end of our presentation.
Now, let Latsamy start with the first part.

I. The meaning of the Internet

The Internet is short for “International Network” or “Inter Connection
Network” which means a big computer network that connects computer
networks around the world for speed and more convenient in communicating
and exchanging information with each other around the world by using a
language called a Protocol to communicate between computers.
The Internet originated in the United States of America in 1969, which was
created by the United States Military Organization named U.S.Defence
Department. The development of the internet is endless. From the past, we was
used the Internet only 1G(1st Generation) but now people can develop to 4G
and I believe in the future, they will be able to improve the speed of it to 5G or
more than that.
II. The advantages and disadvantages of the Internet
Everything on this world always consists of 2 sides both good and bad, just
what side we will use and the Internet as well. If we use it correctly, it will bring
benefits but, if we use it incorrectly, it will bring horrible damage to all of us.
1. The advantages
Nowadays, the Internet is widely used all over the world. Each person uses
the benefits of the Internet in many different ways in our daily lives such as in
education , online news, entertainment, online services and more, etc...
 In education
- Education is one of the best thing that Internet can provide, there are
numbers of book, reference books, online help center, expert views and
other study oriented material on the Internet.
- Students can use the Internet to contact the school and other universities to
search for information that is currently being studied both the information in
text, audio and various animations.
- Students can be taught via the Internet.
- It is a place to search for academic informations on entertainment, medicine
and others that we are interested in, etc…
 In intertainment
- Search for magazine online, including newspapers and other news.
- Listen to the radio, music through the Internet.
- Able to download both news, games, movies, music.
 In business 
- It is a place to find informations to help business decisions
- Able to buy-sell products via the Internet.
- Companies or organizations can provide services and support customers all
the time such as advice answering various problems for customers.
- Marketing advertising via the Internet.
 There are also other important benefits.
- Send electronic mail (Email) through the Internet which is the same as
sending traditional mail but sending emails will be much quicker.
- Transfer, search and retrieve information from various sources stored in our
device. 
- Find a lot of news and informations from various sources around the world
through  World Wide Web.
- Communicate by text, Chat as a chat by typing a reply. Chatting over the
Internet is like sitting in the same chat room even in different countries or
hemispheres.
2. The disadvantages
 Although the Internet is full of advantages , but it also has some
disadvantages such as:
 Hacking and Cheating
It is a loophole for bad people to do bad things for their benefit like a hacker
can hack our personal or coporate information such as hacking Facebook to chat
in order to deceive, borrowing money from others people.
 Viruses
Internet is causing viruses to destroy the data and make the performance of
our computer systems or phones runs slower.
 Exposure to negative content on the Internet
Nowadays, parents like to let children use the Internet alone. I think it's not
inappropriate because on the Internet are a lot of bad informations such as
violent or indecent clips, etc...
 Health issues
Looking at the Internet on our mobile phone or computer for too long can
affect our health such as: eyes, back or muscles problem and many other. So
heavy, it may be depressive disorder.
 Impact on education
There are many children are addicted to the Internet and aren't interested in
studying causing the grades to fall and don't have enough knowledge to develop
themself.
 Lack of society
There are some people who are addicted to social networks, resulting in
blocking themselves from real society which causing them to suppress and don'
t have human relations.

III. How would it be if one day our lives don't have Internet
?
If one day our lives don’t have Internet, it will have enormous effects. It will
have both positive and negative effects like:
 The positive effect
- If the world has no internet , the world will not be too busy like today.
- Children who like to play games can turn to read instead, and with more free
time, this world will increase the encounter with the truth.
- Resulting in good health.
 The negative effect
- Resulting in economics such as online businesses. People who make money
through the Internet like Amazon, Lazada will ruined.
- Studying and teaching has be delay because now Covid-19 is pandemicis
and if there is not study online, then studying needs to be stopped too.
- Communication will be complicated and slow down and delayed news.
Although the Internet is not the most necessary, but today the Internet is a
part of our life.
And all are the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet. Whatever,
everything depends on the users how to use it. Therefore, users should learn
how to use the Internet correctly for maximum benefits and efficiency.
