AGILE ADOPTION: THE WAY TO TRANSFORMATION
WHAT IS AGILE?
Agile is a time boxed iterative approach
to project management and software
development that helps teams deliver
value to their customers faster.
Agile methodologies can be traced as far
back as the 1930s, when Edward
Deming trained hundreds of company
managers at Toyota in iterative and
incremental development
methodologies, which eventually
resulted in the famous Toyota
Production System.
Agile processes generally encourage
frequent inspection and adaptation, a
leadership philosophy that encourages
teamwork, self-organization and
accountability, and a business approach
that aligns development with customer
needs and company goals.
AGILE VALUES
& PRINCIPLES
In early 2001, in Snowbird, Utah, 17
people met to discuss the future of
software development.
The problem, they agreed, was that
companies were so focused on
excessively planning and documenting
their software development cycles that
they lost sight of what really mattered
—pleasing their customers.
The Agile Manifesto was the outcome
of this meeting.
AGILE
VALUES &
PRINCIPLES
Now, more than ever before, with the emergence of the global pandemic
in 2020 and the challenges as well as opportunities that came with it,
organizations realize that their ability to succeed in this digital age will
require agility in software development & delivery, business strategy and
operational execution.
Constantly evolving customer & stakeholder needs, shifting trends in the
WHY AGILE? way teams work and the increase in remote, hybrid & distributed teams
have made it imperative for organizations to adapt if they want to
succeed.

The adoption of agile practices has been a key driver for organizations
that have continued to succeed and remain in the lead in their various
industries.

HOW AGILE WORKS

'Agile' development is a software development methodology based on iterative and incremental development,
where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing, cross-functional teams.

Customers review and

provide feedback so
changes can be integrated
into the next “sprint”
1. INCREASED SPEED TO MARKET: Agile uses methodologies
such as Scrum, which are designed to enable teams release
products incrementally and at regular intervals. Agile will enable
your organization to release the highest priority features/services
at regular intervals and with higher predictability.
2. EARLY RETURN ON INVESTMENT: Increased speed to
market allows your organization to get products/services into the
hands of customers faster. This means your organization can start
BENEFITS OF to generate revenues and see returns earlier in the business cycle.

AGILE ADOPTION 3. FASTER, REGULAR FEEDBACK CYCLE: Stakeholder

requirements are constantly changing. Agile provides frequent
opportunities for stakeholders to inspect the work being done and
provide feedback. This enables teams to incorporate this
feedback into their work and ensure that they at any point in
time, they are delivering what the stakeholder wants.
4. IDENTIFY PROBLEMS EARLY: Daily team meetings which
are brief and straight to the point provide opportunities to call out
impediments and bring the necessary attention to them for quick
resolution.
5. FOCUS ON HIGH-VALUE TASKS: Agile teams focus on the
highest priority tasks, which are determined by the Product
Owner based on the value to be derived from these tasks.
6. HIGH POTENTIAL FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION: Agile
allows teams to respond to changing requirements effectively,
increasing the likelihood that customers will get what they want.
7. HAPPIER, MORE ENGAGED TEAMS: Agile methods promote
a shared sense of ownership for the team, as well as giving the
BENEFITS OF AGILE teams the flexibility to decide how to accomplish their tasks.
ADOPTION…CONT’D This translates to happier teams who take pride in their work.
8. INCREASE VISIBILITY: Agile promotes transparency and
visibility across organizations, using information radiators such
as Scrum/Kanban boards. Greater visibility improves
organizational alignment and accountability
