What is Political System?
The term ‘government’ is general one used to describe both the body
that has power in a given unit—whether national, regional or local—and the
whole constitutional system.

• The leader is often called a prime minister (or
premier), and the prime minister is a member of
parliament.

Presidential:
Separation of Powers:
Executive & Legislative
President and Cabinet
are not members of the
legislature.
Parliamentary:
No separation between
legislative and executive
branches
PM & Cabinet are MPs
(members of
Parliament)

Presidential:
Pres. & Cabinet can’t be
removed due to losing a
majority in Congress. (only by
impeachment)

Parliamentary:
Govt. remains in office only if it
retains support of majority in
