 What is SOUND ?
Sound is a series of waves. Sound waves
are caused by vibrations.

Example : When a drum is struck, the skin

vibrates backwards and forwards very
quickly sending sound waves through the air
into your ears
                 

Sound waves travels as a series of

compression and rarefaction through the air.
They are longitudinal waves.

Use to detect objects in air.
Example: aircrafts

Use to detect object
underwater.
Example: submarines
 PITCH ( OR FREQUENCY ) 

The larger the amplitude of the wave on the trace the louder the sound.
