BACKGROUND OF THE
STUDY
BG OF THE STUDY

Lots of herbal medicines been used for a long time now. They are often used since they
can be found almost anywhere. This study is to be conducted to see and compare the
feasibility of Cilantro’s anti bacterial capability in stomach pain causing bacterias.

STATEMENT OF THE
PROBLEM
SOP

How may the Vietnamese coriander (Persicaria odarata) be an effective alternative liniment in
terms of : 1.1 Decreasing the pain induced by stomach pain 1.2 Aiding the body to withstand pain
1.3 Prevention of the effects of stomach pain 2. Which among the different concentration of P.
odarata is the most effective pain killing agent 3. Is there a significant difference between the
Vietnamese coriander liniment and the commercial product in alleviating stomach pain.
HYPOTHESIS

HYPOTHESIS

1. There is little to a median amount of difference in effectiveness of Cilantro (Persicaria odarata)

alternative liniment and commercial alternative liniments for stomach pain.
2. There is little to a median prospective in increasing Cilantro (Persicaria odarata) effectiveness as an
anti-bacterial bacterial through synthetic methods or production of related products using its extract.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE
STUDY
SGNFNT OF STDY

This study will be conducted in order to make a cheap and efficient medicine at a
low cost or production in order to produce large amounts to distribute the liniment
in areas with low availability of medicines such as the outskirts.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The study will be conducted based on the

following framework: The cilantro plant
will be selected and the plant's stem and
leaf will be used to obtain extract. The
extract will then be added to water and
lidocaine and the effect of the extract
when mixed with the substances will be
observed
SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

SCOPE & LIMITATIONS

This study will be limited on testing the efficiency of persicaria odarata alternative
liniments in terms of it's pain killing capability and it's compatibility with the
chemicals that are commonly used to make alternative liniments
CHAPTER 2
METHODOLOGY
GATHERING OF
MATERIALS
GATHERING OF MATERIALS

The materials that would be gathered are the cilantro plant that will be homegrown,
and some laboratory apparatuses that will be used as containers and the alcohol
lamp that will be us
PLANT PREPARATION

PREPARATION

The plant will be kept in an open container. Some will have their leaves separated
from their stem. The plant will then be cleaned and hand scrubbed. The container
will also be sterilized with hot water to avoid any microbes or any sign of
deterioration in the plant as for any minor issue can cause a change in the final
product.
ARRANGEMENT OF
CILANTRO EXTRACT

ARRANGEMENT

The explants that will be used will be soaked in solutions of water and lidocaine.
TESTING OF CILANTRO
EXTRACT
TESTING

The extracts will be placed in a container. Each different mixture at different

volumes will have their own containers. Each mixture will also have a rat
designated for test. The test will be conducted through rubbing the extract on the
test subject and the effects will be observed.
THE CONTROL GROUP

CONTROL GROUP

9 rats will be used and will be grouped into 3. Rats in the X group will be used in
testing Mixtures in the A group. Rats in the Y group will be used in testing
Mixtures in the B group. Rats in the Z group will be used in testing Mixtures in the
C group
EXPERIMENTAL
DESIGN
APPLICATION OF
TREATMENT
TREATMENT

After the preparation of the Cilantro extract in different solvent and solutions, the various
treatments, including the positive and negative controls, will be applied to the rats. The
various test subjects will be examined to see the physical changes and behavioral changes of
the bacteria.
COLLECTION OF DATA

COLLECTION OF DATA

The data in this research will be collected through

carefull observation of the effect of the mixture on
rats.
