A fun and simple game called
Vocabulary Bingo (with a tweak) that
features definitions as bingo cues. It’s
an easy twist on the classic game and
it will prepare the students for the
vocabulary challenges that lie ahead
which improves the student’s reading
comprehension skill.
OBJECTIVES:

Scan and skim the text.


Identify the words that are
being defined.

PROCEDURE:

1. The teacher will create bingo cards by using the


markers to draw 5 vertical lines and 5 horizontal
lines to form 25 squares. Write “BINGO!” in the
middle square. This middle square is a free
space.

2. Each square in the Bingo card has a definition of


a certain word that can be found in the text or
story.
PROCEDURE:

3. Once all card are filled with words, students will be group
into four. Each group will be given a Bingo card.

4. Players must then identify the word from the text being
described based on the definition given. Players must
answer the first horizontal line in the BINGO CARD(tweak).
Followed by the second up to the fifth horizontal line.

5. After guessing the word, the group should write their


answer on their sticky notes with particular sentence number
from the text and paste it in the particular box where the
word is defined.
PROCEDURE:
6. Continue playing until one group fills in the 5
boxes of the first horizontal line, raise the card and
calls out “Bingo!”

7. The first group who can says “Bingo” will receive


7 points if their answers were correct. But, if they
were not able to get all the correct answers, 1 point
will be given to every correct word and they will
loose their chance. Other groups may then be given
a chance. Second round then will begin.
TIPS:

• Be sure to know deeply the definitions of


the words and how it was used in the
sentence. Be careful with the synonyms of
the words.
• It may be best if the Bingo Card will be
flashed in the board to be fair to all the
group.
