UNDERSTANDING YOUR
ORGANIZATION
What is an Organization?
For Profit
It exists primarily to generate a profit (to earn more money
than it spends). They chose products or services purely because they bring in profits.
The organization thrives in the commercial world with money ruling all its decisions.
It helps you see where you are now, and you "dream" of or
where you want to go, and you make plans for how to get
there.
VISION
The vision statement describes where the organization hopes
they will be going in the future if they can fulfill their mission.
The mission statement describes what you do, who you do it for and
the benefit that it provides. It’s usually a short statement.
The mission of the Good Health NGO is to improve the health of people in the
community by networking health care professionals to be engaged in providing
quality care and service to the poor and needy at minimal cost.
These goals are therefore based on your vision and mission and spell
out a bit more clearly the specific areas of activity although in the form
of goals or objectives.
Goals can be lofty ideas and being long term, it must be broken down
into short term objectives.
Goals are the outcomes you intend to achieve, whereas objectives are
the specific actions and measurable steps that you need to take to
achieve these goals
