LT ACCUCHECK TESTING

PROCEDURE
Review of fundamental electrical concepts

Energy parameters
Active Energy (unit KWh) V X I X Cos Ф
• Reactive Energy (unit KVArh) V X I X Sin Ф
• Apparent Energy (unit KVAh) VXI
Where V is line volt,
I is line current ,
Ф is phase angle between volt and current ,
Cos Ф is power factor

Check parameters on
meter under test (MUT)
 Phase volts V1, V2, V3
 Line current L1, L2, L3
 Active Power KW
 Power Factor Lead or Lag
 Ensure there should not be any anomaly sign : -
1. L&T - Star point ‘*’ & A 000
2. Secure - tamper
3. ABB –
Record and correct the above abnormality before
proceeding for test and declaring test results.

160 pulse - 1 KW - 1 hr (60 minutes)

40 pulse - 3 KW - 5 minutes

ACCUCHECK CONNECTIONS
Nearest to meter (Preferably on incoming side)

STEPS

1. Hook Clamp CT’s

2. PT terminals (First Neutral then phase)
3. Switch ‘ON’
4. Record test remaining No.
5. Check Line parameters and compare with MUT
6. Feed rating and particulars of MUT with K No. Consumer ID, CTR,
Revolution/pulse
7. Fix scanner and confirm each lit/pulse on scanner

It may take note as per DERC guide lines test results should be for
minimum one unit (i.e. 1 KWh) with scanner

8. Alternately connect snap switch

9. In Secure meter we can use direct connect with optical port of MUT

TESTING PROCEDURE
 Conduct primary test use 5 or 10 pulse see
the results and abort the same even within
permissible limits.
 Enter revolution / pulse for 50 or more
counts so that KWh load recorded must be
more than one unit.
 Record test result and confirm energy
parameters of that duration. (Register the
results in protocol)
 Similar procedure could be adopted for
KVArh and KVAh if required
WIND UP
 Switch ‘OFF’ Accucheck
 Remove potential clips one by one on last
neutral clip
 Remove Clamps CT’s
 Remove plugs of CT’s, scanner, snap
switch
 Place all accessories in each compartment
 Close the box
TIPS
 Static meters seldom goes test results
beyond accuracy class i.e. 1.0 or 0.5 %
 Test results generally remain same from
10 % to 90 % load at 0.8 (lag) to UPF
 Test results found varies on succession
tests when line parameters are below 5
% load, PF 0.5 (lag) and 0.8 (lead) thus
avoid
DON’T
 Don’t declare test results in error % if
meter is malfunctioning or low recording on
following reasons
 Meter defective from inside –open circuit in
current coil, pressure coil, display corrupt,
blinking abnormal.
 Mains CT’s defective, burnt, open circuit or
potential missing on meter terminals.
Just state the defect and reason of low
recording Advice assessment
SAFETY & CARE (ACCUCHEK)
 When there is low pf (lead), heavy load there is
possibility of flash between the tips of potential
clips connected closely or spacing is very low.
 Avoid stretch of leads when connected with MUT
 Place Accucheck on firm position preferably on
stool.
 Accucheck is a costly and sensitive instrument as
such handle with care.
 Avoid excessive exposure in open, dust, shocks,
moisture and drizzling.
 Ensure data down load at 200 test counts.
Overflow of test counts affects function in its
recording.
