Rate of Change
🠶 In determining the rate of change of one variable with
respect to another variable, we must be able to
distinguish between the AVERAGE and the
INSTANTANEOUS RATES OF CHANGE.

🠶 The two rates of change are comparable to the


distinction between the SLOPE of the SECANT LINE
through two points on a curve and the SLOPE of the
TANGENT LINE at one point on the curve.
