Policy Development Plan
Reasons for policy - The reasons for developing the policy is to ensure that there are not discirmaiton in
the staff member when they are being hired, males and females. Along with that, the policies and
procedures will bring more consistency in the workplace and there will be more structure to increase the
effectiveness and efficiency of work.

Outcomes required - Outcomes that are required include having a diverse workplace with workers of
different ages and different backgrounds of races, nationalities, and cultures. New workers will be hired
that will be above the age of 50% and male workers will be part of the team where their amount would
take 20% of the whole staff.

Research methods used - Primary and secondary research methods were used. For primary, a
consultant was hired, and secondary research was deducted through online resources.

Communication required - Communication with stakeholders will be conducted
face to face in a group meeting to ensure all the issues and ideas are clearly
communicated with everyone.

Monitoring methods - Surveys will be used after the implementation of policy to


measure the success of the policy and identify further steps that could be used to
enhance the policy and make it more effective and efficient.

Issues with diversity:
● Gender diversity
○ Very few amount of women are doing jobs like electrical, painting, carpentry and plumbing
○ Customers usually expect a man to do the hardware and repair jobs
● Age Diversity
○ Miscommunication can result in workplace which could be due to age difference
○ Workers above the age of 50 may work slower than the average younger worker
● Disability diversity
○ Disable workers are hard to find that can meet the expectation of work requirement
○ A variety of disabilities would require a variety of approaches in the workplace to handle and deal with them
● Race diversity
○ Some workers can be racist towards other races and may behave different when working together
○ Racist words need to be prohibited in the workplace that may trigger workers of different race
● Sexual orientation diversity
○ Some individuals may prefer different pronouns (he/she), which can make it hard to not offend them
○ It can be difficult to keep track of all the sexual orientations and different types of seixualities from LGBTQ+

Issues with diversity:
● Cultural diversity
○ Culture diversity may result in divest solutions but difference could make working together a little complicated
○ Culturally diverse groups tend to have conflict with each other due to different values
● Nationality diversity
○ Members may not be able to work with each other due to difference in political view
○ If the two countries don’t have good relationships with each other then there can be issues among members.
● Language diversity
○ Communication may be comprised in the group when there is no one defined language to be used
○ Pronunciation of words and phrases might lead to miscommunication
● Religion diversity
○ Employees may ask for holidays for the religion events and practices which may not align with each other
○ Lack of understanding about other religions and not knowing how to resound to each other
● Ethnicity diversity
○ Different backgrounds could lead to lack of understanding and reasoning behind another individual's action and behaviour.

Recommendation
It is recommended that WTA produces a Gender Policy in the workplace. Gender
policy has been chosen among the other options because WTA enforces the
involvement of women in the business environment, it is important to have men
involved as well to avoid bias in the workplace and avoid making it all about
women. This policy would impact how role and responsibilities are allocated to
staff members and how recruitment process is conducted to have at least 20% of
workers male in the organization.
