Software :- SKETCHUP

INTRODUCTION :-
 Sketchup is a 3d modelling computer program for a while range of dwg
application .
 Such as architectural , interior design , landscape architecture , civil and
mechanical , film and video game design .

 How to start the SketchUp :-


in the welcome to SketchUp window , click choose template and choose one of
the templates from the list. Then click start using SketchUp.
Use of the mouse
 Using a 3 button wheel mouse has 2 huge advantages .
 The scroll wheel can be used to zoom in and out (making the objects appear
larger or smaller)
 The middle mouse button can be used for orbiting (spinning the model
around)
 If you have a scroll wheel in the middle mouse button you can both scroll it
and c
 ick it .
Zooming, Panning & Orbiting:-
They are used for navigating and exploring the model .
They are icons for zooming , panning and orbiting, But to make it very
easy to move around , you need a 3 button scroll wheel mouse .
1) ORBIT :-
Its like holding on object and turning it around . When you use this tool,
click and hold the mouse button and move the mouse around .where your
cursor is on the screen will be the centre of rotation .
2) PAN:-
Panning means sliding your view up or down , left or right .its a similar to
moving a piece of paper across a desk.to pan the view , activate pan and
hold and drag the mouse
3) ZOOM :-
Click and drag the mouse up to zoom in , down to zoom out.
With a wheel mouse , you can scroll the mouse wheel up or down to zoom.
OVERVIEW OF SKETCHUP BASIC TOOLS:-
1) SELECT:-
Menu : tools/select . Shortcut : spacebar
You need to select objects(edge and /or faces) before the object can be
moved ,copied , scaled , etc.
You can also use select to erase objects select them , then press the delete key.
2) LINE:-
MENU: DRAW/LINES SHORTCUT:L
3) RECTANGLE :-
MENU : DRAW/SHAPE/CIRCLE SHORTCUT : R
4) CIRCLE:-
MENU: DRAW/SHAPE/CIRCLE SHORTCUT:C
5)POLYGON:-
MENU: DRAW/SHAPR/POLYGON
 ARC TOOLS:-
MENU :DRAW/ARCS
There are 3 ways to draw an arc.
The simplest is 2 point arc(shortcut :A) which creates in arc in 3
clicks.
The first click sets the start point, then the end point ,then a
point in the middle( the “bulge” point)
like with circle .an arc is actually made of short line
segments ,and you can draw a circle .
The second arc tool (arc) first sets the centre point ,then the 2
points at the either end.
Pie is a similar but fills in a pie-shaped face.

2) MOVE:-
MENU : TOOLS/MOVE , SHORTCUT :M
3) ROTATE :-
MENU : TOOLS/ROTATE , SHORTCUT:Q

PAINT BUCKET:-
MENU: TOOLS/PAINT BUCKET ; SHORTCUT :B
This is the tool you use to point faces.
When you click it, the materials window opens .
There are several collection of solid colours and materials available.
Shortcuts :-
 ARC = A
 PUSH /PULL = P
 ORBIT = O
 SELECT = SPACE BAR
 ERASER = E
 PAINT BUCKET = B
 RECTANGLE = R
 ROTATE= Q
 LINE = L
 PAN = H
 ZOOM = Z
 CIRCLE =C
THE 3D WAREHOUSE :-
 The 3d ware house is a part of SketchUp where users can upload their
creations and download other users models.
 for example,
if you are making an interior design plan, you can download a couch from the 3d
warehouse instead of making it yourself .
To access the 3d warehouse , click the button logo and it opens up.
GROUPING AND COMPONENTS:-

 Select – right –click-make group or component

Grouping allows you to link a set of objects for


modelling and editing as a simple object,
A component is similar but allows you to edit
multiple copies of an object .simultaneously by
editing just one .
1) Materials
Window – materials
2) Shadow studies :-
View –shadow , window –shadows
3) Walk around:-
position camera ,walk, look around
4) Push /pull:-
Extrude a face , but only perpendicular to it
5) offset:-
Set the distance to offset the concentric shape
6) Follow me :-
Extrude a face along any path
7) Scale :-
Select a direction and magnitude to scale
Appling material : paint brush (B)
 Apply material to faces, lots of present texture and
colours .
 Can create new materials with button in window.
 Can load in images to use as materials select
material and click on face to apply.

 Changing styles :-
open with view-toolbars –styles
Styles changes the visuals of a project with one click
You can make a new style with the button on the right .
The styles toolbar will let you change face styles
without changing edges or corners .
 Using shadows /sun data:-
open the shadows from windows shadows.
Ensure that shadows are turned on under view. You can also click the
button on the left ,
If you have the correct time zone, you can create approx. sun studies
use the geo-locate function to be more exact.

CROSS SECTION OF MODELS :-


In google SketchUp ,section are objects that let you cut away part of
your model to look inside .
