The universe was formed due to a cosmic explosion, leading to the formation of
giant clouds of gases and dust particles called nebulae.

The collision of the atoms in the nebulae caused formation of glowing

bodies known as stars.

True or False Challenge

•Sun is made up of hot gases, mainly helium

and oxygen.

• The
light from the sun reaches the earth in about 8
minutes and 20 seconds.

•The gravitational pull of the sun that holds the earth

and the other planets in their fixed elliptical paths are
called orbits.

•Sun’s radius is 109 times that of the earth and its mass is
about 3,33,000 times that of the earth.

Just after landing, Curiosity
found smooth, rounded
pebbles that likely rolled
downstream for at least a few
miles in a river that was ankle-
to hip-deep. When Curiosity
reached Mount Sharp, the
team found that over 1,000
vertical feet of rock is formed
originally as mud at the bottom
of a series of shallow lakes.
Rivers and lakes persisted in
Gale crater for perhaps a
million years or longer.
