Micro, Small and Medium enterprises
In accordance with the provision of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act,
2006 the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are classified as below:

 As per 73rd Round of National Sample Survey (NSS) Report on Years NOP(L)
Unincorporated Non-Agricultural Enterprises; (July 2015- June 2016) 2016-17 4.08
conducted by Ministry of Statistics & amp; PI (MoSPI), the estimated number of
persons employed in MSMEs are about 11.10 crore. 2017-18 3.87

 Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP),
the estimated employment generated (number of persons) in micro enterprises as 2019-20 5.33
on 15.11.2021. 2020-21 5.95

 The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) implements
various schemes to increase employment opportunities of MSME sector in the
country.
These include -

 Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme PMEGP,


 Micro and Small Enterprises-Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP),
 Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI),
 Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE),
 A Scheme for Promoting Innovation, Rural Industry & Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE).

 NEW SCHEMES
1. Tool Rooms and Technical Institutions - A Component of Infrastructure Development & Capacity
Building:

Key Benefit:
• Improves access of MSMEs to tooling facilities for enhancement of their efficiency and providing industry
ready manpower by conducting training programme.
• Process and Product development in relevant sector.
• Consultancy and job works in relevant sector.

2. Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt (CGSSD) for Stressed MSMEs:

Key Benefit:
• Promoter(s) of the MSMEs are given credit equal to 50% of their stake (equity plus debt) or Rs. 75 lakh
whichever is lower.

3. Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP):

Key Benefit:
• RAMP scheme would enhance the performance of MSMEs by promoting technology upgradation,
innovation, digitization, market access, credit, greening initiatives, etc through active participation of
the State Governments.
