SENTENCE TYPES
1) Declarative sentence (statement) – the most common type of sentence; a statement of an idea or
argument

Jesse showed great dedication to his running.

May Belle worshiped her older brother.

Miss Edmunds was Jesse’s favorite teacher because she encouraged his drawing.

2) Imperative sentence (command) – gives advice or instructions or expresses a request or command.

“Get me a shirt May Belle”, yelled Jesse.

3) Interrogative sentence (question) – ask a question and always ends with a question mark.

“Who’s teasing the baby?”

Would she never let them go?

Why couldn’t he quit picking on her?

“You ain’t scared to let a girl race, are you, Fulcher?”

4) Exclamatory sentence (exclamation) – expresses force or a strong emotion and ends with an
exclamation point.

Lord, could they ever make a racket!

Sit down!

“You never want us to have any fun!”

Statement Question

A villain is the bad guy, the one who comes up with


diabolic plots to somehow cause harm or ruin.

The villain initiates and develops the conflict, and


the hero finds the solution

In many stories, the villain is far more complex than


the hero.
Task:
Write a question with the term villain.

Write a statement using the name Voldemort

Write an exclamation using the word Harry
