the most authoritative advice on their disciplines.
• It
is normal, therefore, for them to be consulted by the
government about changes in the law as it affects the
discipline or is affected by it.

shape policies by playing an active part in discussions
and contributing to consultations from government and
other bodies on a wide range of professional, economic
and societal issues.
