    Key Questions

    All research proposals must answer the there basic


    questions:
      
     WHAT you want to do,
     WHY you want to do it and
     HOW you want to do it.
    Headings
    A research proposal is usually arranged under the following
    headings:
     Title
     Introduction
     Literature Review
     Objectives and Scope of the Study
     Methodology
     Work plan
     References
     Annex
     Financial Proposal
    Title
    The title should reflect:
     The subject matter of the research such that the reader has
    an immediate indication of what to expect in the proposal.
     Should not be too large to bore the reader with details
     Not too brief
    Introduction
     The necessary background and context.
     Historical development of the subject
     The current controversies.
     Importance of the research topic
     Provide the justification for undertaking such a task.
     Begins with a general statement of the problem area with
    a focus of the specific research problem.
     Hypothesis
    Literature Review
     States the viewpoints of the authors about the state of
    knowledge in the area,
     Traces the major themes,
     Identifies the gaps and controversies, and
     Focuses on the particular research problem that the
    researcher wishes to pursue.
     How the proposed research would be different from the
    existing knowledge or research findings.
    Objectives and Scope of the Study
     Simple and specific
     Measurable
     Acceptable
     Relevant
     Time bound
    Methodology
     Research design
     Setting
     Population and sample size
     Recruitment
     Data collection methods
     Quantitative
     Qualitative

     Data analysis
     Quality assurance
     Ethical issues
    Work plan and budget
    Timeline
     The timeline will distribute the total time you have available for
    the research to its various components,
     Should be realistic.
    Budget of possible expenses
     The budget will provide estimates of various expenses (under
    some headings such as honorarium, conveyance, stationery
    etc.) that you anticipate will be incurred for the research.
     Justification of budget
