WORKSHOP
Limiting Access
• After test questionnaires have been
finalized, it will be converted to a
PDF file for encryption.
• One way to make assessment files
secure is to encrypt itself using
password.
Limiting Access
ACTIVITY 1. Encrypting My Test Files

• Convert an MS Word file into PDF

file using your laptop or desktop.

ACTIVITY 1. Encrypting My Test Files

• Using the previously taught steps,

encrypt your PDF file with a
password.

Proper Safekeeping
• After file encryption has made, it will
be properly kept in a cloud-based
storage.
• One way to keep assessment files
in a safe storage is through Google
Drive.

SAFETY NETS IN THE
DISTRIBUTION AND
RETRIEVAL OF QUALITY
ASSURED TEST MATERIALS
SAFETY NETS
Assessment
reliability in the new
normal is affected by
the physical absence
of the teacher or a
proctor.
SAFETY NETS
When cheating
is high,
assessment is
expected to
have low
reliability.
SAFETY NETS
There are good practices
to at least mitigate this
uncontrolled phenomena:
Good Assessment Practices in
Distance Learning

• Distributing test in multiple

sets (Miller, 2020)
• Elaborate parent’s roles in
Assessment
(UNICEF EAPRO, 2020)
SAFETY NETS
• Taking assessment as a
“social contract” (Bell, 1994)
• Utilizing medium-to-low tech
verification approach
(UNICEF EAPRO, 2020)
SAFETY NETS
• Proper accounting and
control over distributed test
materials (Bell, 1994)
ASSESSMENT ETHICS
Assessment Ethics
The validity of testing programs (Bell,
1994) is undermined by:
o inappropriate or unethical test
preparation or administration
o inappropriate use of the tests
o factors beyond the control of
schools and their personnel.
Assessment Ethics
TEST POLLUTION
Inappropriate testing
practices may
"pollute" the validity
of standardized test
(Haladyna, et al.,
1991).
How assessment be ethical?
According to Green et al. (2007), the assessment
practices that interrelate with ethics are:
• communication about grading
• multiple assessment opportunities
• fairness
• Unbiased grading practices
• Reliable test administration
• standardized test preparation
• CONFIDENTIALITY
How assessment be ethical?
CONFIDENTIALITY

Test materials must always be

confidential; key players in the
assessment process must ensure
integrity of the developed test
materials (Cirlan, 2017).
W hile the instructional engine is
propelled by test performance, its
equity and fairness depend entirely on
the degree to which the inference,
decision or description made from test
performance is correct (Madaus,
1990).
