Health and safety when operating
the machine
• When using the machine never put your hands near the entrance
and exit on either side of the machine especially when its running
as it could cause serious injuries to yourself or others, also keep
well away from the decolier because it can seriously injure yourself
when it is spinning although the decoiler does have a steel guard
around it to keep people safe.

Health and safety when packaging the
product
• When packaging the steel together watch out for long, thin and sharp pieces of metal
attached at either end of the steel. They can vary in size and can pierce through your gloves.

Page 3
Health and safety when packaging
the product
• When stacking the steel never go over a 3 by 3, and if you do stack it
at 3 by 3 then make sure to use more clingfilm than usually because
otherwise it will collapse, this will also happen if stack it more than 3
by 3. So please stack them 2 by 4 if possible. Normally they should
look like this.

Page 4
Daily Maintenace
• You need too top up the oil shear blade at least 3 times a day this is to stop the shear from being dry. You will find this
located at the front of the machine
• A calibration check is necessary because you need to make sure the material is coming out at the right length when
printing of your first frame check that the length is too the correct length
• It also good to purge ink projector's as they can dry up quick and will not be a visible print on the material. When first
starting in the morning it is good to give a wipe over with a cloth for best quality
• You need too also check the strip lubricator this is located at the back of the machine as well to make the strip lubricator
run better and more efficiently you can purge them this best too only do every 5 seconds when purging

Page 5
Weekly Maintenace

You need to clean the covers and do not use the top off the
machine as work bench only to have necessary tools and
job sheet on there .

Sweep around the machine and as best as you can inside

the machine as load of dust particles will get inside the
machine and underneath due other things happening in
the workshop.

Check hydraulic oil level and made sure that filled up the to
the line on the glass meter you will find this located on the
left side of the machine on the side of the screen in the
middle cabinet .

Page 6
Monthly Maintenace
• At the start of the month, you need
to check the shear blade because this
is what cuts off material before
coming out of the machine and if
damaged badly this will affect cut off
on your frame
•    Make sure that none of the bolts
have loosen whilst using the
machine
• Make sure that all rollers are
performing correctly and are all done
up tight these are in the machine
running all way through the middle  Page 8
Monthly Maintenace
You need to check the tension on the chains between lube chains and the gears for the
machine. They should be able to slack each way 10-20mm you will find these chain located
inside of the machine on the sides.

Check the tension between the lube chains and gears for the decoiler this is located at the
back of the decoiler to the right side of the power button this should also be able to slack 10-
20mm each way .

Page 7
Yearly Maintenace
Only thing needed for a yearly check is to replace the hydraulic oil also with that it would be best to give the
whole of  the machine a good look over and clean and too also check the nuts on the bolt as they can loosen over
time.
You will find the hydraulic oil located on the right side of machine closet to the wall located at the back of the
machine.

Page 9
Setting up the machine part 1
• First you need to put a coil onto the decoiler for this we use a forklift
to lift the coil on to the decoiler but first you need to make sure all the
previous coil is out the machine for this you will have to do it
manually which means you have to change it to manual and press the
button which is being pointed at by arrow.

Page 10
Setting up the machine part 2
• After clearing out the old steel in the machine you need to get the
decoiler ready for a new coil you do this by twisting this metal bolts
clockwise direction to loosen them from the green metal guard, after
this take off the guard.

Page 11
Setting up the machine part 3
• When the guard is off, we then need to get the forklift ready to lift the
coil, so we attach a JIG that allows us to wrap 2 ton straps around the
coil and attach it to the JIG this then allows us to pick up the coil
carefully

Page 12
Setting up the machine part 4 (part 1)
• When the coil is on the forklift we then remove the guard from the
decoiler, then we drive the forklift and position it parallel with the
decoiler, then carefully the forklift driver will be guided in by a person
behind the decoiler and get it level in the centre of the decoiler, then
the person next to the decoiler will wind up then centre brackets
these will hold the coil in place then the person will snap the metal
bands going around the inside of the coil, then the guard will be
placed back on the forklift will be detached from the coil and
someone will then snap the middle band going around the coil.

Page 13

Page 14
Setting up the machine part 5
• Now you need two people one person threading the metal through
the machine and another person using the manual mode on the
decoiler to slowly allow the steel into the machine, after the steel is in
the machine make sure to turn the decoiler back to manual

How to use the Framecad machine
• First plug in the usb with
a framecad design on it

In the video next to this text it show you how to

add drawings to the machine to use. First click
the button labelled as add then the screen will
show you a list of options to choose from, for
this demonstration we are picking the usb
option, so then click usb after that select the
file from the usb that you want to add to the
machine then in the bottom right-hand corner
select upload job

Page 16

• So, after getting the drawing uploaded
then click the green button that says play
when this is pressed it will produce a text
asking what type of job it Is so press
uncertified and ok then the first two
pieces of light gage steel will be scrap this
is the machine test running to make sure
there are no problems

Page 17

If the machine is running to fast you can

turn the speed down and up with the
sphere that has the words speed ratio
underneath it.

Page 18
How to use the Framecad machine
If you need to stop the machine for any reason
then you need to press the orange pause button,
which is to the right of the green play button, when
you want to continue again just press the green
play button and the machine will start again.

Page 19
How to use the Framecad machine
• If you press on the alarms button it
will produce a list of errors on one
side, but the other side will be a list on
Maintenace that need to be done at
the time

Page 20
How to use the Framecad machine
• When the large emergence stop
button is pressed the machine will
shut down (only press if necessary)

Page 21
Faults that can occur and how to fix them
• When running the machine, it can get seriously gammed when this
happens you need to make sure that you have the machine paused
then you need to turn the machine off (for safety measures) then you
can take off the two safety guards and place them in a safe space then
you need to undo all the bolts at the top of the roll forming station.

The bolts are on

the black bits that
are labelled with
the
orange arrows.

Page 22
Faults that can occur and how to fix them
• When all the bolts are taken out, I would suggest labelling each side the
same letter working in a row so for the first one on either side would be A
then the second letter on either side would be B, then C, then D, then E,
and finally F. when you have labelled the top and sides off it you can then
take off the black pieces that hold the rollers down but by labelling them
you will know what order to put them back in.

The pieces labelled are the side of the

rollers and the black thing holding the
rollers down

Page 23
Faults that can occur and how to fix them
• Then when you have taken the rollers out carefully with gloves and
snippers snip the piece of bent metal off and take it out after it is
done then put the rollers back on and the pieces holding the rollers
down and then the safety guards back on turn the machine to manual
mode and try and push the material all the way through then turn it
back to automatic and it should be fixed.
It should look like this when put back together
