the German City of Ulm. He was a German-born
American theoretical physicist, widely ranked
among the greatest and most influential
scientists of all time.

Life and Career
• Catholic Elementary School – Munich

• Luitpold-Gymnasium

• Parents moved to Italy, but he stayed in Munich at 15 – later returned

• While in Italy as a teenager, he drafted an essay entitled "On the Investigation of the State of the Ether in a
Magnetic Field".

• Excelled in Algebra, Calculus and Euclidean geometry and discovered proofs at 14

• Entrance Exam at 16.

• Joined Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and met Meliva Marić.


• Fell in love with Mileva Marić and married in 1903 and had two sons
Marriages and • Divorced on 14 Feb 1919.

Relationships • Married his cousin Elsa the same year.

Employment
• Assistant and Technical Expert at Swiss Patent
Office in 1902.

• "Bureau of Theoretical Physics"

• First Scientific Papers which he disapproved

• His 24-page doctoral dissertation also addressed a


topic in molecular physics. Titled "A New
Determination of Molecular Dimensions"  and it
was completed on 30 April 1905.

• The outbreak of the First World War in July 1914


marked the beginning of Einstein's gradual
estrangement from the nation of his birth.

• Put forth 'Special Theory of Relativity" in 1915,


approved in 1919 and awarded Nobel Prize for

• In 1922, Einstein's travels were to the old world
rather than the new. He devoted six months to a
tour of Asia that saw him speaking in Japan,
Singapore and Sri Lanka.

The End of Einstein
• On 17 April 1955, Einstein refused surgery,
saying, "I want to go when I want. It is tasteless to
prolong life artificially. I have done my share; it is
time to go. I will do it elegantly."

•  He died in the Penn Medicine Princeton Medical


Center age of 76, having continued to work until
near the end.
