You might think that the food is not
good for you or that it’s unhealthy!

But your diet SHOULD


have a certain amount
of fat in it!
The fact is we all
need fats.
Fats help us in lots
of ways!

What are FATs?

• Fats give us energy and keep our body warm.


• Fats are contained in oil, butter, meat, cheese, milk
and egg yolk.
What does fat do?
FAT:
•helps our bodies stay warm in cold weather

•protects our organs - like a cushion

•helps keep skin and hair healthy

•gives some vitamins a place to stay and helps them get round
in the blood to where the body wants them.
How much fat is good for you?

Nutritionists, people who study foods and diets, say


that only a small amount of fat is necessary each day.

However infants and small children need more fat.


Most of us eat between 6-8 times too much
fat each day! If you eat too much fat, there
can be serious problems!

•Obesity is the condition of having more


body fats.

•Lead to heart attacks and strokes.
