Specifically, it can b e classified into two main types.
T he first type is t h e basic research. It deals with t h e
investigation o n basic principles and r e a s o n s for t h e
o c c u r r e n c e of a certain p h e n o m e n o n o r process.
Applied r e s e a r c h is an oth e r type that solves certain
problems through using a c c e p t e d theories. Also, it
tries to explore how things can b e changed. T h e s e
two types of r e s e a r c h a r e u s e d in t h e academic and
scholarly fields.

1. P a t t e rn Used:
Road a c c i d e n t s h a p p e n d u e t o several reasons. O n e r e a s o n is
t h e c a r e l e s s n e s s of drivers. S o m e drivers ignore traffic rules
a n d warning signals. They also re sist wearing s e a t belts. S o m e
of t h e m a r e e v e n d r u n k while driving. Next r e a s o n is t h e
w e a t h e r conditions. During a h o t weather, drivers a r e p r o n e
t o have high bl ood p r e s s u r e o r h e a t s t r o k e which lead t o r o a d
accidents. Meanwhile, during rainy s e a s o n s w h e n t h e r o a d is
w e t o r slippery, drivers t e n d t o lose c ont rol which lead t o
vehicular accidents. Another r e a s o n is t h e traffic jam. W h e n
t h e r e a r e t o o many vehicles, s o m e drivers easily panic, g e t
m o r e nervous, a n d b e c o m e error-prone. As a result, traffic
a c c i d e n t s happen. T o s u m up, ca rel essness, w e a t h e r
conditions, a n d traffic jams a r e c o m m o n r e a s o n s of r o a d
accidents.

Educating o u r children t o take c a r e and p r o t e c t t h e
environment by saving t r e e s is a lifetime mission. It
is important for u s and o u r children t o u n d e r s t a n d
that t r e e s d o s o m u c h for o u r environment.
T r e e s provide u s clean air, food, paper, and
medicines. They also give shelter t o humans and
animals. Can you imagine a world without t r e e s ?
With this, I ur g e you t o join m e in making this world
a better, greener, cleaner place for o u r children and

T h e r e a r e many ways t o lessen t h e a mo unt of house hol d
wastes. First, t u r n away from single-use plastics. You ca n d o
this by bringing your o wn r e usa bl e containers a nd ask
r e s t a u r a n t s t o u s e t h e m in packing your food. Next, u s e eco-
bags w h e n buying in g rocery stores. This ca n minimize t h e
u s e of plastic cellophanes. Another way is by sorting your
garbage. Just get any t r a s h r e c e p t a c l e s a nd follow t h e
p r o p e r sorting p r o c e d u r e s . S e p a r a t e plastic bottles a nd
metal w a s t e s from fruits a n d vegetable scraps. For plastic
a n d metal waste, clean t h e m a nd place t h e m in s e p a r a t e
bins. O n c e t h e recyclable bins a r e filled up, take t h e m t o
your local recycling centers. T h e s e a r e s o m e of t h e ways t o
r e d u c e t h e a mo unt of wastes.

T h e r e a r e t h o s e w h o believe that technology
makes u s less creative. They strongly claim that
cellphones, computers, a n d o t h e r gadgets
make u s lazy a n d d e p e n d e n t . Also, they say that
w e don’t have t o think o r c r e a t e for ourselves.
However, t h e t r u t h is t h e s e technologies have
different f e at ures that offer multiple creative
outlets. W e c a n edit videos, design webpage,
make s h o r t films, c r e a t e graphic arts, a n d
c o m p o s e w e b novels. Technology brings o u t
people’s creativity in this n e w age.

Many people argue that bullying is a
natural part of our humanity and that
preventative measures are ineffective
against this element of the human
condition; however, they fail to
understand that bullying is a cycle that
has been perpetuated for centuries and
that all cycles can be broken.

Writing is a complex sociocognitive p r o c e s s involving t h e
c on str u c t i o n of r e c o r d e d m e s s a g e s o n p a p e r o r o n s o m e o t h e r
material, and, m o r e recently, o n a c o m p u t e r screen. T h e skills

anticipating t h e re actions of t h e i nt e nd e d readers. T h e first skill
a r e a involves acquiring a writing system, which may b e alphabetic
(as in E u r o p e a n languages) o r nonalphabetic (as in many Asian
languages). T h e s e c o n d skill a r e a r e q u i r e s selecting t h e
a p p r o p r i a t e grammar a n d vocabulary t o form a c c e p t a b l e
s e n t e n c e s a n d t h e n arranging t h e m in paragraphs. Third, writing
involves thinking a b o u t t h e p u r p o s e of t h e text t o b e c o m p o s e d
a n d a b o u t its possible effects o n t h e i n t e n d e d readership. O n e
important a s p e c t of this last f ea t ure is t h e c ho i ce of a suitable
style. Bec au se of t h e s e characteristics, writing is n o t an innate
natural ability like speaking b u t ha s t o b e a c q u i r e d t hro ug h years of
training o r schooling (Swales & Feak, 1994, p. 34).
Social s u p p o r t services, w h e t h e r they a r e
f u n d e d publicly o r privately, would b e able
t o tackle many of t h e immediate a n d long-
term challenges that face p e o p l e
