files and replacement of HDD should be considered.
TESTING METHODS AND PROCEDURE
Testing Hard Drive
What is S.M.A.R.T?
S.M.A.R.T. or Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting
Technology is a fault detection, monitoring and
maintenance technology used by computers to provide
advanced notification for hard disk drive (HDD)
failures.
TESTING METHODS AND PROCEDURE
Testing Hard Drive
What is S.M.A.R.T error?
S.M.A.R.T. error are a near-term prediction of drive
failure. This might happen even if the drive seemingly
works fine.

TESTING METHODS AND PROCEDURE
Testing the Power Supply
•Check the voltage requirements of the PSU.
•Check PSU using paper clip.
•Check PSU using multimeter.
TESTING METHODS AND PROCEDURE
Testing Power Supply
Steps in checking PSU using paper clip
1. Turn off the PSU and unplug the connectors.

Testing the Network
To verify a functional network (General), we need
to:
Check Physical Connections
-The green and red light next to the RJ45 port
should light up.

To verify a functional network (Network
Computers), we need to:
Verify that you can log on
-You should be able to log on using a valid domain
user account.
TESTING METHODS AND PROCEDURE
Testing the Network
To verify a functional network, we need to:
Check the network configuration
-input “ipconfig / all” in cmd. If IP address does not
show, check if configuration is correct and DHCP
servers are running properly.
TESTING METHODS AND PROCEDURE
Testing the Network
To verify a functional network, we need to:
Verify that computers can ping each other
-Input “ping (local host) in cmd. Example, “ping

WASTE MANAGEMENT
3 R’s of Waste Management

The principle of reducing waste, reusing and recycling

resources and products. In our case, waste from
electronics.
5S PRINCIPLE

A systematic way of organizing workplaces by

eliminating waste, improving flow, and reducing the
number of processes where possible. It originated from
Japan and first adopted by Toyota Motor Corporation.

Reuse
It involves the repeated use of items or parts of items

WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE (WEEE)

WEEE, or the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

Directive, is a piece of legislation introduced into UK
law in 2007 by the Waste Electronic and Electrical
Equipment Regulations 2006.
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT (WEEE) DIRECTIVE

The goal of the WEEE Directive is to reduce the amount

of electrical and electronic equipment that is produced
and sent to landfill and to also to promote the recycling,
reuse and recovery of valuable electronics resources that
can be repurposed
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT (WEEE) DIRECTIVE
Objectives of WEEE Directive
•Preventing the creation of WEEE as a first priority.
•contributing to the efficient use of resources and the retrieval of
secondary raw materials through re-use, recycling and other
forms of recovery.
•improving the environmental performance of everyone involved
in the life cycle of EEE (electrical and electronic equipment).
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT (WEEE) DIRECTIVE
Needed to Achieve Objectives, the Directive
• requires the separate collection and proper treatment of WEEE
and sets targets for their collection as well as for their recovery
and recycling.
• helps European countries fight illegal waste exports more
effectively by making it harder for exporters to disguise illegal
shipments of WEEE
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT (WEEE) DIRECTIVE
Needed to Achieve Objectives, the Directive
•reduces the administrative burden by calling for the
harmonization of national EEE registers and of the
reporting format
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT (WEEE) DIRECTIVE
Waste electronics that fall under WEEE regulations
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT (WEEE) DIRECTIVE
The cover of this directive are those
who:
•Produce or Store Waste
•Collect and Transport Waste
•Treatment Facilities
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT (WEEE) DIRECTIVE
Additional Information:
As the symbol suggest, sending
electrical and electronic waste
straight to the garbage bin is
prohibited by this legislation.
WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE (WEEE)
Additional Information:
In this legislation, it is illegal to for any businesses to
send hazardous waste, such as fluorescent tubes and
batteries, to landfills.
