ICE-BREAKER
An ice-breaker is a game or a joke that makes people who do not know each other feel
more relaxed together. It can be played anywhere, without preparation or equipment.

Here are some examples of ice-breakers:

Opening Questions:
 If I could be an electronic product, what would I be and why?
 Can you guess the thing that I’m going to tell you?
 Guess what I am thinking about?

Responding:
 Is it . . . ?  Can it be . . . ?
 Is it like . . . ?  Is it more . . . Than . . . ?
Reports
Texts about living and non-living things are referred to as reports. They
are written to provide information about something.

Information report texts usually consist of the following parts:


• General Classification: Introducing the topic of information report.
• Description of the shape/form: Telling the shape/form.
• Description of the function: Telling the function.
• Description of its history: Telling its history.
Reports
Report texts usually use generic terms or technical language.

 Generic terms are typical of or relating to a whole group of similar things, rather
than to any particular thing. A generic term can be LCD, feeders, rice cookers,
torches, ocean liners, etc.

 Technical language in the description section of an informative report is the


language or terms that relate to the subject, for example pocket seat, steam rack,
heating plate, outer plot, etc.
