Course objectives:
7.1 Knowledge: Students will be able to:

+ understand and master the format, structure, content and vocabulary related to two kinds of business
correspondence in Writing 2: (i) writing emails and (ii) writing letters to reply to an email or a letter; describe
events at workplace;

+ know 3 more types of business correspondence such as (1) action minutes; (ii) press release and (iii)
guidelines;

+ understand, know and apply the knowledge of those documents in business correspondence.
Course objectives (cont’d):
7.2 Skills: Students will be able to:

+ analyze the sample documents whose contents are related to the course;

+ apply the acquired knowledge to do their writing exercises;

+ draft their communicated opinions and write the documents needed in similar cases.

7.3 Attitude: Students should:

+ be aware of the importance of Business Correspondence;

+ assess if a document has been well-written.

+ be self-conscious of writing stylistic, comprehensive and appropriate documents.

At the end of the course, students are expected to achieve writing skills at level mid-B2 (CEFR).
Students are encouraged to take BEC Vantage certificate for self-evaluation of their language abilities.
Assessment:
- Class attendance and class participation: 10%

- Mid-term test: 30%

- Final Exam: 60%

writing:
An email from a student written to her professor asking for feedback on her writing:

Dear Mrs. Smith,

I am writing to ask you for feedback on my discussion chapter. After doing all the necessary
research and taking your advices, I have carefully written the chapter. However, I am still not so
sure if I am on the right track. I hope you can point out the mistakes I have made and give me
some advices to improve my work.

The discussion chapter is attached with this email. Thank you in advance for your time.
