There are various expressions Philippine


art that can be found right inside our
homes and are found everywhere. The
arrangement of furniture, home décor, the
way a mother cooks a particular kind of
food to the jeepney designs and signages,
architecture of buildings, billboard
designs and other unnoticed works
of art, comprise the “art of today.”

that produced in our contemporary
time, simply put as “art created
today.”
Influenced by the economic, social,
political and environmental context
where the artist is immersed in.

Contemporary Philippine art is


not confined to the usual genres of
the four main art forms, namely,
visual, literary, applied and
performing arts.
Many other genres came up which
include pure art forms as well as
mixed art forms.

imagination. (Pop art,
Installation art, Graffiti art,
Word art, and Conceptual art)
Graffiti Art
- graffiti art as a term
refers to images or
text painted usually
onto buildings,
typically using spray
paint.
Installation Art
- involves the
installation or
configuration of
objects in a space,
where the totality of
objects and space
comprise the artwork
Pop Art
- short for popular
art. it refers to works
of art that are
generally
recognized, consume
d and enjoyed by
majority of the
Filipino people or the
so-called “ masang
Pilipino”. they are
most often trendy,
representing or
playing upon current
interests while at the
same.
Conceptual Art
- art for which the idea
(or concept) behind the
work is more important
than the finished art
object.
PERFORMANCE ART
Form of arts practice that involves
a person or persons undertaking
an action or actions within a
particular timeframe in a
particular space or location for an
audience. (Music: hip-hop, jazz,
metal, pop, rock, alternative rock,
and acoustic; Theater plays,
Dance)
LITERARY ART

are what one might classify more


along the lines of literature,
including poetry and prose. These
works can range from epic poems
to epistolary novels to articles to
comics. (manga, graphic novels,
flash fiction, hyper poetry, blog,
and text-talk novels)
APPLIED ARTS

any form of art created with a


specific practical purpose in mind.
applied art is often used for
commercial or utilitarian
purposes, such as product design
or architecture. (video art,
computer art, photography, film,
architecture, and furniture)
