Nationalism in india

 The Nationalism in India means a change in peoples understanding of their


identity and sense of belonging. The growth of modern nationalism is intimately
connected to the anti-colonial movement. People began discovering their unity
in the processs of their struggle with colonialism.
 One kind of nationalist advocates political independence, feeling that her region
or state would be better off as a completely separate country from the one that
currently controls it.
 Some of the most famous nationalists are Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal
Nehru, Maulana Azad, Chakravarti Rajagopalachari, Mohandas Gandhi,
Rajendra Prasad and Badshah Khan
Dadabhai Naoroji
 Dadabhai Naoroji, (born Sept. 4, 1825, Bombay [now Mumbai], India—died June 30,
1917, Bombay), Indian nationalist and critic of British economic policy in india.
 He was an Indian political leader, merchant, scholar and writer who served as 2nd, 9th, and
22nd President of the Indian National Congress from 1886 to 1887, 1893 to 1894 and 1906
to 1907
 He was a Liberal Party Member of Parliment in the British House of Commons,
representing Finsbury Central between 1892 and 1895. He was the second person of Asian
descent to be a British MP
 He is also known as the ‘grand old man of india’
Lala rajpat rai
 Lala Lajpat Rai, (28 January 1865 - 17 November 1928) was an Indian author, freedom fighter,
and politician. He played a vital role in the Indian Independence movement.
 He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari. He is also known as 'Punjab da Sher' which literally
means the 'Lion of Punjab’
 He was part of the famous radical trio Lal Bal Pal,who advocated the Swadeshi movement in India,
involving the boycott of all imported goods and the use of Indian made goods.
