Health and safety definition
Means by which to control aspects of work production that involve any degree of risk or hazards that
may cause injury or harm to yourself and others.
This process eliminates such elements to ensure worker's safety and health.

EMPLOYEE HSE RESPONSIBILITIES
Comply with relevant HSE laws set out in the OSH Act of Trinidad and Tobago and protect their own safety and
health, as well as the safety and health of anyone who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
Ensure that they are not under the influence of any intoxicant to the extent that they could be a danger to
themselves or others while at work.
Cooperate with their employer with regard to safety, health and welfare at work.
Not engage in any improper conduct that could endanger their own safety or health or that of anyone else.
Participate in safety and health training offered by their employer.
Make proper use of all machinery, tools, substances, etc. and of all Personal Protective Equipment provided for
use at work.
Report any defects in the place of work, equipment, etc. which might endanger safety and health.

EVACUATION

Depart the area in a safe and orderly fashion using designated evacuation/exit routes where you see the above
signs. Observe these guides-:
Walk - DO NOT RUN.
Use staircases - DO NOT USE ELEVATORS
Maps of the building exit routes are posted in key areas. Become familiar with these maps and follow the
directions for evacuation of the area.
Upon reaching the outside, proceed to the designated assembly/muster point.

INFECTION CONTROL / Covid-19
protocols

Infection Control is a system used by the healthcare facility to prevent or stop the spread of infections.
Important times to practice hand hygiene
Reporting of covid 19 symptoms and
testing
It is MANDATORY for employees to report to their supervisor if you are experiencing COVID-19
symptoms, if you were in contact with a COVID-19 positive person, and if you are positive for
COVID-19.
HR will then be notified and you will be required to quarantine for 14 days.
After which you will be required to get tested to ensure that you are not a positive case. If the
PCR test is negative, you will be allowed to resume duties.
If the PCR test is positive you will be required to further quarantine until a negative test is
produced and update your county medical offices.
Environmental initiatives
Substance abuse
Prohibited substances are defined as:
◦ any alcoholic beverage, the use of which is not authorized by the Company,
◦ any substance that an individual may not sell, possess, use, or distribute under the laws of the state in which the
individual is employed or is working, and
◦ any otherwise legal but illicitly-used substances.

The use, possession, concealment, transportation, promotion, or sale of the above substances are strictly prohibited on
Medical Associates premises. Any employee or contract employee in violation of this policy will be prohibited from Medical
Associates premises.
Medical Associates reserves the right at all times on its premises to conduct unannounced substance screens, searches, and
inspections of employees, contractors, subcontractors, and other persons, including their effects, lockers, baggage, desks,
tool boxes (personal and company-owned), clothing, and vehicles. The purpose of such screens, searches, and inspections
are to ensure compliance with this policy.
Any prohibited items found will be handed over to the relevant authorities. Disciplinary action will be taken.
Disciplinary actions & non-
conformances
Failure to follow the Company Policy will result in disciplinary action being brought to the
employee and ultimately will lead to dismal, if unwanted unsafe behavior continues.
This includes the following but not limited to:
oFailure to report incident/accidents
oFailure to wear your PPE properly
oFailure to follow SOPS/Procedures/ Policies.
