OMV E&P Stimulation Manual opening and pouring of 15 gallons drum into a
mixing tank for stimulation operations.

1. Substance Name
Cortron CK928 (corrosion inhibitor)
Appearance: Clear liquid, with a characteristic odour.

2. Hazard identification/Labelling
Harmful by inhalation.
Harmful if swallowed. Causes severe burns.
Irritating to eyes and skin.
Very toxic to aquatic organisms.

3. Safe Handling
Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact.
Ventilate well, avoid breathing vapours.
Use approved respirator if air contamination is above accepted level.
Eye wash facilities and emergency shower must be available when handling this product.

4. Personal Protection
Site specific Personal Protection Equipment has to be worn!
Body Wear appropriate clothing to prevent any possibility of skin contact.

Feet Wear footwear resistant to chemicals.

Eye / Use approved safety goggles or face shield.


Face

Hand Use protective gloves made of: Rubber, neoprene or PVC.

Respi- No specific recommendation made, but respiratory protection may still be required under
ratory exceptional circumstances when excessive air contamination exists.

Hygiene DO NOT SMOKE IN WORK AREA! Wash at the end of each work shift and before eating,
smoking and using the toilet. Wash promptly if skin becomes wet or contaminated. Promptly
remove any clothing that becomes contaminated. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

5. Emergency Response
Spill Provide ventilation and confine spill. Do not allow runoff to sewer. Absorb in vermiculite, dry
sand or earth and place into containers.
Containers with collected spillage must be properly labelled with correct contents and hazard
symbol. Do not discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.
Wear protective clothing.
Fire Extinguishing media: Water spray. Foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder.
Keep up-wind to avoid fumes. Avoid water in straight hose stream; will scatter and spread
fire. Cool containers exposed to flames with water until well after the fire is out.
Wear full protective clothing. Use air-supplied respirator during fire fighting.
6. First Aid
General

7. Disposal Requirements
Empty containers should be taken for local recycling, recovery or waste disposal.
Do not allow runoff to sewer, waterway or ground. Dispose of waste and residues in accordance with local authority
requirements. Recover and reclaim or recycle, if practical
