WORKING HOURS
WORKING HOURS

• Maximum “normal” work hours – 8hrs per day / 48 hours


per week, can be increased to 9 hours per day with MOL
approval. (Article 65)
• Cannot work over 5 hours without a break – rest, eat,
prayer ( total-not less than one hour, not counted in work
hours). (Article 66)
• If an employee works more than “normal” hours –
overtime, remuneration is salary + 25% - must not exceed
2 hours per day. (Article 67)
WORKING HOURS
• Where the work circumstances require a worker to
work overtime between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. he shall be
entitled in respect of such overtime to the wage
stipulated for his normal working hours, plus a
supplement of at least 50 per cent of that wage. ( Article
68)
TYPE OF LEAVES
 Official leave with full pay: (Article 74)
Annual leave
ANNUAL LEAVE (Article 75)

• Annual Leave -2 days per month for an employee


working over 6months and under a year.
• 30 days per annum for those working over a year
SICK LEAVE (Article 83)
• No entitlement in the first 6months to PAID sick leave
• Sick Leave entitlement is:
- The first 15 days at FULL PAY
- The next 30 days at HALF PAY
- The subsequent period WITHOUT PAY
MATERNITY LEAVE (Article 30)

• 60 Days maternity leave (45days’ Full pay plus 15 days’


half pay) and no length of service requirements
• Post-maternity illness allowance of 100 unpaid days
• 1-2 nursing breaks per day, up to 1 hour total, for 6
months
• 5 days’ 'parental leave' from the birth of their child to six
months
PATERNITY LEAVE ( Article 32)

• 5 days leave to be used consecutively or throughout the first


six months of the baby’s birth.
COMPASSIONATE LEAVE (Article 32)
• 5 days’ leave for death of spouse
• 3 days’ leave for death of parent, child, sibling, grandchild, or
grandparent
STUDY LEAVE ( Article 32)
• Employees with 2 years’ service entitled to 10 day study
leave per year provided relevant course is with an UAE
accredited institution.
