VOYEURISTIC DISORDER

VOYEURISM DISORDER

HISTORY
Voyeurs were well-paying hole-lookers in especially
Parisian brothels, a commercial innovation described as far
back as 1857 but not gaining much notoriety until the
1880s, and not attracting formal medical-forensic
recognition until the early 1890s.

It begins with an overview of the psychoanalytic

foundations of the term, paying particular attention to the
"Mercury and Herse", ways Freudian theory helped shape clinical definitions of

samples, the highest possible lifetime prevalence for voyeuristic

PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORY
VOYEURISM DISORDER

For this case (Frontier Airlines pilot Vernon Dwayne Crider, 55) the Psychodynamic
Perspective was chosen because:

The behavior is directed by forces within one’s personality that are often hidden or
unconscious. Crider it’s 55 years old, acted on his impulses and had his same behavior for a long
time.

The psychological perspective views behavior as the result of psychological processes within
each person. This view continues to emphasize scientific observation, just as the early

into more than just one Psychological Theory category. As a psychology student it is our
responsibility to have an Eclectic View.

Psychoanalytic theory proposes that voyeurism results from a failure to accept castration
anxiety and as a result of failure to identify with the father.

8 Biopsychological View Human and animal behavior is the result of internal physical,
chemical, and biological processes.
