X2 LINK STATUS Enterprise
• x2LinkStatus: The parameter provides information whether the X2 link is successfully
established.

• X2 link is established when the status is 1: available and not established when is 0:
unavailable.

• It has Handover Control function.

• The parameter is on MRBTS/LNBTS/LNADJ Object level.

• eNB monitors the allowed number of neighbour eNBs (LNADJ) depending on hardware
used: 128 for FSMr2 and 256 for FSMr3.
• In our network the highest is having 51 neighbour eNBs (LNADJ)

• In our network we found among 3946 Neighbour eNBs , 714 are in 0: unavailable state.

LNADJ

• After handover failure between Gaseke2 and Rwesero sites we found X2 link in
unavailable state meaning that X2 link not established.

• To re-establish the link we revised the IP routing configurations. Below are steps followed.

 X2link between GBD009 and GBD001 is not established (unavailable state)

 As per below figure from dump and IP plan:

 BGD009 is in 172.2.79.0 /24 IP pool
 LNADJ BGD001 is in 172.2..45.0/24 IP pool.

 From BGD009; control and user planes for BGD001 are configured( Refer to figure 1)
 But the link between them is unavailable as shown in figure 2. So we have check on GBD001 side.

 Add BGD009 control and user planes pool in BGD001 LNADJ EnodeB.

 Now X2 link status changed to Available on both sides.

Conclusion:

 We are expecting improvement on handover.

 After change, X2 link on some eNBs is still unavailable. This is may be due to long distance between two
sites. We took one example where distance between NZD003 and BGD003 is 25km.

 We are checking the possibility to block/blacklist X2 link between sites tend to handover to very far sites.

 For new sites acceptance, we are recommending NI & NPO teams to make sure IP routing for neighbor eNBs
is well configured.
