-She was born on August 1, 1993 in the United States to parents who
emigrated from Nigeria, and struggled financially when Adeyemi was a
child.
-Adeyemi grew up in Chicago, not being exposed to her Nigerian heritage,
her parents decided not to teach her or her siblings their native tongue
-Adeyemi graduated from Hinsdale Central High in 2011.
-After graduating from Harvard University with an honors degree in English
Literature, she studied West African mythology, religion, and culture in
Salvador, Brazil.
-Writer and creative writing coach based in San Diego , California.
-When she’s not working on her novels or other stuffs she can be found
blogging about writing.

Tomi Adeyemi
PLOT
I. Zelie, lives in Ilorin along with her brother and father. They
moved there after her mother got killed in a raid. Zelie
went to lagos to trade in able to pay her taxes, there, she
bumped into Princess Amali who had a scroll with her.
II. The King tasked Prince Inan to retrieve the scroll from
Zelie. Then, Zelie took the scroll to Mama Agba, and it
restored some of Mama Agba’s maji. She then had visions
of Zelie, Tzain, and Amari in a journey to Chandomble
together.
III. They met a sentaro who’s name is Lekan, he told them
that in able to bring magic back, they must re-establish
the connection with mother sky through a sacred ritual.
He told them that they need the scroll, bone dagger,
and sun stone to do so.
IV. They were abducted but it turns out that the
abductors were diviners. There, Zelie was caught by the
guards and a huge chaos happened. Prince Inan
betrayed them and told the King where to find Zelie.

V. Zelie successfully reached the Holy temple.
Another chaos happened. In the end, Zelie completed
the ritual.

 I love the fact that this book tackles about equality and racism

Age Group:
I recommend this novel to other readers, but for me,
readers ages 16+ would relate more since the main
characters are of the same age. To add, the age group is
16+ since there are violent scenes. Nevertheless, the book
is enticing and it will surely capture the interest of the
readers.
