Introduction
Although many internationalist like Bentham and Kant imagined the
possibility of a global governance, nothing of the sort exists today. There is
no one organization that various states are accountable to. Moreover, no
organization can militarily compel a state to obey predetermined global
rules.

But still, the states in an international order continue to adhere to certain


global norms means that there is a semblance of world order despite the lack
of a single world government.

GOVERNANCE

Global governance refers to the way international affairs


and global issues are managed, regulated, and governed
in an increasingly interconnected world. It involves the
collective decision-making processes, institutions,
norms, and mechanisms through which nations,
international organizations, non-governmental
organizations, and other actors work together to address
global challenges and promote common interests.
INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION
THE TERM "international organization (IO)"
generally refers to international governmental
organizations or organizations with a universal
membership of sovereign states. The most
prominent IO is the United Nations, with 191

The power of classification refers to an international
organization's authority to categorize, group, or
organize various entities, events, or issues into
distinct classes or categories. This process helps bring
structure and clarity to complex global phenomena,
enabling better understanding and analysis.

standardize specific interpretations and explanations
for terms, concepts, or principles within its purview.
This standardization ensures that member states and
stakeholders share a common understanding of key

The power to diffuse norms relates to an international
organization's capacity to promote and spread shared
values, principles, standards, or behavioral norms
among its member states and the broader
international community. This influence shapes and
guides how countries and actors approach issues and
challenges within the organization's domain.
UNITED NATIONS
United Nations The United Nations (UN) is
an intergovernmental organization founded
on October 24, 1945, following the end of
World War II. Its primary purpose is to
promote peace, cooperation, and
international security among nations. The
UN was established to prevent future
conflicts on a global scale and to address
various global issues, including poverty,
human rights abuses, environmental
degradation, and more.
