rather than sustained speed in hunting.
Both animals overall are endangered
because of devastation and the
illegal hunting.

● “vitória régia” (scientific name: Victoria amazonica) is a typical plant from the
Amazon Region in Brazil. It is known as the largest aquatic plant in the world,
with floating leaves that can reach up to 2 meters of diameter.

Jellyfish and called too sea jellies are beautiful sea creatures, but some of these
animals can be extremely dangerous. They are free-swimming marine animals
with umbrella-shaped bells and trailing tentacles. The tentacles are armed with
stinging cells and may be used to capture prey and defend against predators.

Although some turtles live in the sea and in fresh water, where they are better adapted
for locomotion and, consequently, for capturing their prey, turtles are the first class of
vertebrates to definitively conquer the terrestrial environment. This fact is due to the
existence of several adaptive characteristics. Some of them are: impermeable,
glandless skin and pulmonary breathing.

Team: Iara and Amanda - Red Pandas
The red pandas are small animals that are endangered. They are found in Nepal,
India, Bhutan, China and Burma. They are from the family of the raccoons and
weasels.

They aren’t related to the giant pandas, but they are similar because they have an
extra thumb, an extension of the bone that serves to hold bamboo and tree branches.
They normally eat bamboo and sometimes eat eggs, insects and berries.

Habitat loss and fragmentation, illegal trade and exploitation of forest resources are
some of the causes of threat that the species faces. These threats, associated with
disease and climate change, contribute to the rapid decline of the Red Panda
population in the wild.

Found in cool, coastal waters around the world. Great

whites are the largest predatory fish on Earth. They
grow to an average of 15 feet in length, though
specimens exceeding 20 feet and weighing up to 5,000
pounds have been recorded. Great white sharks are
very curious. They are one of the few marine fish that
pay attention to what happens outside of the water.
Great whites speak through body language.

They prefer a solitary life and are quite organized. and

they often fife each other to show who is the strongest.
The biggest ever found was called Deep Blue, a female
in México, over 6 meters over.
Kakapo - the owl parrot (Mariana and Melissa)

Kakapo is a nocturnal parrot that can live up to 100

years. It is native to New Zealand. Unfortunately,
kakapos were devastated by the human colonization of
the island nation and the introduction of cats to the
region. They could be extinct in their native range. The
government is working for avoiding that and the species
now are increasing in population size.

Topic 3 - The rarest animals, birds, or plants in our country .

One of the rarest animals in our country is the Gold Lion Tamatin (in Portuguese:
Mico Leão Dourado). The monkey is the smallest in the world and it’s native to
the Atlantic coastal forests of Brazil. The Golden Lion is an endangered species.
Their original habitat was located from the southern part of the state of Rio de
Janeiro to the state of Espírito Santo. However, deforestation of Atlantic Forest
and other humans actions has limited their population to about five municipalities
across Rio de Janeiro. It is reported that the home ranges have decreased in size
and today the forest is composed of thousands of fragments that are equivalent to
only 8% of its previous size. Because of this, most of the population is now found
in the Poço das Antas, a Biological Reserve in Rio de Janeiro.
