BACKGROUND:

• The Revit platform for building information modeling is a


design and documentation system that supports the design,
drawings, and schedules required for a building project.
• In EDRC, Revit is used extensively to develop building models
for the last 4 years.
REVIT FAMILIES:
All of the elements that you add to your Revit projects are created with families.
System Families: ( Not editable )
Walls, Roofs, Floors, Stairs.

In-Place Elements:
Custom elements that you create in the context of a project.
Unique geometry & Limited reuse.

Loadable families:
Created as external *.RFA files and imported (loaded) in to projects.
Building components that would usually be purchased, delivered, and installed in and
around a building, such as windows, doors, casework, fixtures, furniture, and planting
