“When the
Queen Goes
Out, I Like to
Soak My Feet”
What do you see?
• A monkey? A queen? A river?
• How do you think these objects/people/places tell a
story?

• What is the story??

Complimentary Colors
o The Color Wheel lays out
different colors in relation to
each other
o Complementary colors are
across from each other on
the color wheel
o These are colors that
compliment each other
 They look good together
Blending Colored Pencils
o Blending colors means smoothing them out

o Paint thinner reacts with the wax in colored

pencils, and makes it smoother on paper
 Dip paintbrush in paint thinner and paint
your colored pencils!

o You can blend two colors together too (like red

and blue to make purple)
Project Directions
Day 1
Write out your own story and brainstorm what your story looks like in a
drawing. You must complete both before moving on to drawing! Once
you have showed me you have done both, you may start whenever you
are ready.

Day 2
Start drawing your story. Use complimentary colors and use the
paintbrush dipped in paint thinner to blend your colored pencils.
Be creative and have fun!
Check For Understanding
Take 3 sticky notes and pass down the pad to your neighbor. Place your
Narrative Art Project on your test, stand up, and push in your chair.

When the music plays, go find someone else’s project. When the music
stops, take a sticky note and write one thing you like about their project
that you think they did well.

After 3 turns, return to your desk and read your sticky notes written for
you.
