EFFECTS OF POMEGRANATE

• A recent study reported that addition of pomegranate extract to dairy cow diets resulted in higher
milk production.
• The effects of pomegranate addition on milk yield were stronger in cows suffering from chronic
mastitis in mid lactation and in cows in early lactation than in healthy mid lactation cows.
EFFECTS OF PHYTOBIOTICS

• . Phytobiotics, commonly known as herbal plant bioactive compounds, have been used in human
and veterinary medicine to prevent diseases, enhance performance in stress-related syndromes,
and increase resistance against infections.

• The public awareness of potential health risks by excessive use of in-feed antibiotics and
synthetic pharmaceuticals has recently increased.
• This has encouraged the use of various forms of phytobiotics in animal nutrition.
EFFECTS OF PHYTOBIOTICS

• The supplementation of phytobiotics-rich herbal mixtures (PRHM) to high-producing dairy cows

that are prone to subclinical udder health disorders may alleviate this stressful condition and,
consequently, improve their lactation performance and health status.
• In ruminant nutrition, phytobiotics are largely used as rumen fermentation modulators and also
as antioxidant and antiinflammatory supplements.
RUCHAMAX
• The results of the a study indicated that supplementary feeding of herbal preparations
(Ruchamax & ayapro) to lactating crossbred cows had beneficial effects on rumen parameters,
increased their milk yield and overall boosted animal productivity.
• Since these preparations are non-hormonal and a combination of different herbs, they can be
considered as safe, cost effective and environment friendly without side effects.
• Overall, the highest milk yield was obtained from animals fed Ruchamax supplemented feed.
Ruchamax is a herbal formulation that has been shown to be a good appetizer and Stomachic.
• Ruchamax increases the salivary secretions, optimizes the digestive functions and ultimately
helps increases milk production.
PYAPRO

• The constituent herbs of Payapro include Leptadenia reticulata, Nigella sativa, Foeniculam
vulgare, Cuminum cyminum and Asparagus racemosus etc. are all known to possess
galactopoietics action.
• Leptadenia reticulata has been reported to produce significant galactopoietics response in goats,
sheep, cows and buffaloes. It is also used for correcting the irregularities of milk production in
cows. The use of Nigella sativa (Kalongi) medication resulted in substantial increase and
sustained milk in clinical cases of agalectia.

DIFFERENT HERBS

• The effect of herbs like:

• Black Cumin
• Curcuma zeodharia
• Curcuma manga
• Curcuma aeruginosa
• significantly increased (P<0.01) milk yield, milk protein, milk lactose and significantly
decreased mastitis status and did not significant affect milk fat.

HERBAL GALCTOGOGUES

• Foeniculum vulgare (Fennel)

• Pimpinella anisum (Anise)
• Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari)
• Silybum marianum (Milk Thistle)
• Commercial drugs available in market used as Herbal galactogogues.
