INTRODUCTION TO CSR

1 CSR in India has traditionally been seen as a philanthropic activity. And in keeping with
the Indian tradition, it was an activity that was performed but not deliberated. As a
result, there is limited documentation on specific activities related to this concept.

2 There are certain innovative CSR initiatives emerging, wherein companies have
invested in enhancing community livelihood by incorporating them into their supply
chain. This has benefited communities and increased their income levels, while providing
these companies with an additional and secure supply chain.

3 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a mechanism by which companies hold

themselves to a set of legal, ethical, social and ecological standards. It is a form of
business self-regulation that has developed alongside greater public awareness of ethical
and environmental issues.

TOWARDS EDUCATION

1.Providing a boost to engineering students : Infosys Foundation started

the Spark-IT program in September 2014. Specifically for engineering
students, the three-month course aimed to provide technology and
communication skills training to those who consistently performed well
academically. The program received a tremendous response and attracted
applicants from all over the country. Infosys Foundation also tied up with a
number of institutes in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Pune in order to gain a wider
reach.
TOWARDS SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Infosys has been an early adopter of CSR initiatives. The Company works
primarily through the Infosys Foundation, towards supporting projects in the
areas of protection of national heritage, restoration of historical sites, and
promotion of art and culture; destitute care and rehabilitation;
environmental sustainability and ecological balance; promoting education,
and enhancing vocational skills; promoting healthcare including preventive
healthcare; and rural development.
TOWARDS SCHOLARSHIP

Through our Computers @ Classrooms initiative launched in

January 1999, we donated 2,567 computers to various
institutions across India.

•Additionally, we have applied to the relevant authorities for

permission to donate computers to educational institutions
on an ongoing basis in the future Prerana not just provides
Scholarship to students coming from challenging economic
and social background, most importantly imparts
employability skills to make students prepared for a career
after their education
