Definitions
I. Pediatric dentistry:
• Is an age defined specialty that provides both primary and
comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for
infants and children through adolescence, including those with
special health care needs.

II. Child:

• Biologically, a child is anyone in the developmental stage of


childhood, between infancy and adulthood.

• Child is “every human being below the age of 18 years unless


under the law applicable to the child”
• Pedodontist or Pediatric dentist:

• A specialist in the field of dentistry dealing


particularly with the oral health care of
children, from infancy through the teenage
years.
