WHAT IS HEART ATTACK?
A heart attack, also known as
myocardial infarction, occurs when the
blood flow to the heart muscle is
blocked, resulting in the death of a
portion of the heart muscle. The more
time that passes without treatment to
restore blood flow, the greater the
damage to the heart muscle.
WHAT ARE HEART ATTACK’S SYMPTOMS?
The symptoms of a heart attack can vary from person to person, but
typical signs include chest pain or discomfort (often described as a
crushing or squeezing sensation), shortness of breath, pain or
discomfort in the neck, jaw, back, or arms, sweating, nausea, and
lightheadedness. However, it is important to note that some
individuals, especially women, may experience atypical symptoms,
such as stomach pain, fatigue, or dizziness.
HOW TO PREVENT HEART ATTACK?
 Physical activity—Talk with your health care team about the things you do
each day in your life and work.

 Lifestyle change—Eating a healthier diet, increasing physical activity,

quitting smoking.

 Cardiac rehabilitation—Cardiac rehabilitation is an important program for

anyone recovering from a heart attack, heart failure, or other heart problem
that required surgery or medical care.

 Manage stress—Chronic stress can contribute to heart disease. Find healthy

ways to manage stress, such as exercise, relaxation techniques , talking to
WHAT ARE THE TREATMENTS FOR HEART ATTACK?

The treatment for a heart attack aims to restore blood flow to the
blocked artery and reduce further damage to the heart. Immediate
treatment may involve administering medications (such as aspirin
and nitroglycerin), restoring blood flow through procedures like
angioplasty and stenting, or emergency coronary artery bypass
surgery in severe cases.
WHAT IS EMPHYSEMA?

Emphysema is a chronic obstructive

pulmonary disease (COPD) that
affects the lungs. It is typically
caused by long-term exposure to
irritants, such as cigarette smoke or
air pollution, which damages the air
sacs (alveoli) in the lungs.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF EMPHYSEMA?

Common symptoms of emphysema include shortness of breath, chronic

cough, wheezing, chest tightness, fatigue, and weight loss. These
symptoms often develop gradually and worsen over time.
HOW TO PREVENT EMPHYSEMA?
 Quit smoking: The most crucial step in preventing emphysema is to quit smoking or avoid
exposure to secondhand smoke

 Avoid lung irritants: Limit exposure to other lung irritants such as air pollution, chemical
fumes, dust, and industrial pollutants.

 Practice good respiratory hygiene: Take precautions in situations where there is an increased
risk of respiratory infections.

 Protect your lungs from allergens: If you have allergies, take steps to minimize exposure to
potential triggers such as pollen, mold, dust mites, and pet dander.

 Regular exercise: Engage in regular physical activity, including aerobic exercises and strength
training. Regular exercise helps improve lung capacity, strengthens respiratory muscles, and
promotes overall lung health.
WHAT ARE THE TREATMENTS FOR EMPHYSEMA?

While emphysema cannot be cured, treatment aims to manage

symptoms, slow down the progression of the disease, and improve a
person's quality of life. Treatment options may include quitting smoking
(if applicable), medications (such as bronchodilators or corticosteroids),
pulmonary rehabilitation, supplemental oxygen therapy, and surgery (in
severe cases).
