Culture is interrelated- elements of culture are interrelated Culture is Adaptive - culture is a learned behavior. CHARACTERISTICS OF CULTURE Culture is dynamic- Cultures are not static–they change over time. Culture is shared - Cultural values, beliefs, norms, etc. are shared by the majority of the members of a given society. Culture is a symbol - observing the pattern of the culture of people we can easily understand the region or country from which they come. A subculture is a group of people within a culture that differentiates itself from the parent culture to which it belongs.
According to Oxford English
Dictionary (the OED), subculture, means “an identifiable subgroup within a society or group of people, especially one characterized by beliefs or interests at variance with those of the larger group”. A co-culture is a group whose values, beliefs or behaviors set it apart from the larger culture, which it is a part of and with which it shares many similarities. Micro-culture refers to the specialized subgroups, marked with their own languages, ethos and rule expectations, that permeate differentiated industrial societies.
