What are the things that we

need to do to minimize
hazard risks in a laboratory?
Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a
planned system of working to prevent illness
and injury where you work by recognizing
and identifying hazards and risks. Health
and safety procedure are the responsibility of
all persons in the computer and technology
industries.
You must identify the hazards where you
are working and decide how dangerous
they are. Eliminate the hazard or modify
the risk that it presents.
OHS or Occupational Health and Safety
refers to the action, policies, procedures
and activities that aim to protect the
health, safety and welfare of all people
at the workplace.
Occupational Health and Safety Procedure (OHSP) (written):

1. Contingency measures during

workplace accidents, fire and other
emergencies are recognized.
2. Personal protective equipment is correctly
used in accordance with organization OHS
procedures and practices.

3. Hazard/risks in the workplace and their

corresponding indicators are identified to minimize
or eliminate risk to co-workers, workplace and
environment.
4. Take necessary precautions to protect the
components of the computer from damage
caused by ESD (Electrostatic Discharge).

5. Hold the components by the edges and do

not touch the IC’s.
6. Read and follow instructions on the manual
carefully.

7. Do not use excessive force if things don’t

quite slip into place.

What are the 7 Occupational Health and
Safety Procedure (OHSP)?
Why do we need to understand and apply
the 7 Occupational Health and Safety
Procedure (OHSP) in our laboratory?
The goal of an occupational safety and health
program is to foster a safe and healthy
occupational environment. OSH also protects
all the general public who may be affected by
the occupational environment.
In a group of 3. You are given 10 minutes to
go around the school and identify at least 1
hazard.
