Ontario chiefs say the lack of safe drinking water in many of the country's indigenous
communities should be improved. Since then, the federal government has signaled its intention
to work more closely with communities to address issues, and the Canadian Department of
Native Residents Services announced its operation in September 2019. The government has
invested sufficient funds to support relevant work.
