HISTORY:
Mr. Zach Medz, an 85-year-old male,
presented with a two-day history of
fever, accompanied by loss of appetite
and a persistent cough that has been
ongoing for an extended period. He also
complains of difficulty breathing, general
body weakness, swelling of his lower
extremities, and a blister on his left leg,
which he suspects might be an infected
wound.
VITAL SIGNS:
• BLOOD PRESSURE: 100/60 MMHG
• TEMPERATURE: 37.5°C
• OXYGEN SATURATION: 97%

• RESPIRATORY RATE: 22 BPM


• CARDIAC RATE: 75 BPM
PHYSICAL
EXAMINATION:
General: The patient appeared weak and
fatigued.
Respiratory: On auscultation, there were
scattered crackles in both lung fields, more
pronounced in the lower lobes.
Cardiovascular: Regular heart rate with no
murmurs or abnormal sounds.
Abdomen: Soft and non-tender.
Extremities: Swelling noted in the lower
extremities, and a blister was observed on the
left leg.
DEFINITION OF TERMS:
• Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs
in one or both lungs.

caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. The infection
causes the lungs' air sacs (alveoli) to become
inflamed and fill up with fluid or pus.
DEFINITION OF TERMS:
• Heart Failure also known as congestive
heart failure, is a condition that develops
when your heart doesn't pump enough blood
for your body's needs.
ORGAN AFFECTED:
• Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs that may be caused by
bacteria, viruses, or fungi. The infection causes the lungs' air sacs
(alveoli) to become inflamed and fill up with fluid or pus.

• An acute infection like pneumonia increases the stress on the heart


and can lead to a cardiac event like heart failure, heart attack or
arrhythmias
